Not hugging hard enough, apparently
2002-04-14 12:07:41 AM
wait wait, they live on PLYWOOD platforms?

they live on dead trees to prevent the killing of trees...

ya sure, they're perfectly sane
2002-04-14 12:08:19 AM
Poetic justice.

2002-04-14 12:09:30 AM
after fellow activists called 9-1-1 on a cell phone
My cell phone doesn't have a "-" button, is this a west coast thing?
2002-04-14 12:09:56 AM
well, it's a start.
2002-04-14 12:11:09 AM
Why hug a tree, dangerously up high, in the middle of nowhere? I understand protecting our natural resources, but resorting to fall from a tree to become a martyr(sarc)? That's strange.
2002-04-14 12:11:53 AM

Stupid tree hugger! I hope a tree rapes him in hell!
2002-04-14 12:13:04 AM
Using cell phones, too. Damn consumerist tree huggers.
2002-04-14 12:13:18 AM
'tree sitters were days away from leaving the site after a three-year vigil' Shame, loser
2002-04-14 12:13:34 AM
Should have hugged the tree harder.

Or listened to the news
2002-04-14 12:15:11 AM
"People literally are waiting for the ink to dry (on the cancellation deal).
Literally has just about lost its meaning. Literally.

This deserved the Hero tag.
2002-04-14 12:15:13 AM
Not hugging hard enough, apparently

2002-04-14 12:15:28 AM
Poor tree hugger.
2002-04-14 12:16:31 AM
That's almost as funny as the anti logger protestor who was haggling a lumberjack. The lumberjack went about his job and cut down the tree. Unfortunaltly the tree fell on the protester and killed him.

Being raised on cartoons, I could only picture the protester running away from the falling tree. He runs out of the forest, takes a taxi to the airport, flys away in a plane, and then just as he reaches the front door to his house, BLAMO, right on the head!
2002-04-14 12:17:47 AM
If a tree hugger falls down in the forest when no one is around, does he make a sound?
2002-04-14 12:18:14 AM
Uhhh I was wondering, "If a tree sitter falls in the woods and there's no one there to hear it..........." How's that go??
2002-04-14 12:18:40 AM
Tree huggers: 0
Loggers: 0

2002-04-14 12:24:35 AM
Doh! Used vbb tags! my b! :D
2002-04-14 12:24:41 AM
I've got to agree with Big Dave; living in a ply-wood treehouse in the name of saving trees is ridiculous.
2002-04-14 12:24:51 AM
Obviously the tree didn't hug back. Guess it wanted a ham sandwich!
2002-04-14 12:27:38 AM
The protest was not to save trees in general, therefore the use of plywood was perfectly appropriate.
2002-04-14 12:28:56 AM
Well, at least once a body starts to decay, it masks that god-awful patchouli scent.
2002-04-14 12:32:33 AM
Hytes Xian: Saw in another thread you live in the Heights. My best friend's over on Pecore in Woodland Heights; I'm over in West U.

I agree; some of the protests (such as the one mentioned where a tree fell on a protester) occur with old-growth trees that are felled to provide high-grade lumber. Plywood is usually made from low-grade stuff. So it's not quite as hypocritical as it sounds.
2002-04-14 12:34:41 AM
Damn, I submitted the CNN.com coverage of this story with caption "Tree hugger should have hugged harder".
2002-04-14 12:35:30 AM
Too bad she wasn't impaled on the way down....then we could of used the ironic tag....not enough of those.
2002-04-14 12:36:05 AM
I wonder how long it will be until a tree hugging lawyer decides to sue gravity for her death.
2002-04-14 12:37:47 AM
Insert "Gravity of the situation" pun here. Commence hating self.
2002-04-14 12:39:54 AM
Redneck tree huggers last sentence, "Hey ya'll watch thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss uhh."
2002-04-14 12:41:07 AM

hahahah where's the amusing or ironic tag?
2002-04-14 12:44:50 AM
Badly injured and died.

Vice what? Getting a splinter and dying? Stubbing your toe and dying? Getting the itches from rolling in grass and dying?

As for you Overpaid Slacker...your hugging hard enough comment made my night. Thank You!

God. I am so facking ashamed of all of you people.

How dare you.

Someone died protecting what they believed in. A good cause I might add. It may not have been the most distinguished way to die, and yes, it may be sick irony, but that doesn't f*cking make it amusing.

This article deserves a SAD tag.

Assholes. Assholes who can't be buggered to give a serious thought to the environment, and when someone with some facking SENSE in their heads dies while doing something none of you slackers would ever do, while exerting efforts you wouldn't even dream of, you go and make a mockery of her.

Shame on you.
2002-04-14 12:51:57 AM
Do they make hemp caskets?
2002-04-14 01:00:26 AM
*Clutches chest and falls backwards*
2002-04-14 01:02:33 AM
facking ashamed...wtf

all together now....
Hug, Hug, Hug your tree....
2002-04-14 01:02:55 AM
Faery, who are YOU to be ASHAMED of anyone? The people in the world who hold their hearts out on strings and pardon the pun, "hug trees" are often more guilty than those they condemn. For instance, did you know that the head of M.A.D.D. (mothers against driving drunk) makes over $300,000 per year? And that the previous MADD prez was arrested for driving drunk.

The girl was sitting on a plywood platform, protesting the cutting down of a tree. That would be like me choking on a gin and tonic while protesting the use of Juniper berries in gin,

Irony is so ironic!
2002-04-14 01:05:50 AM
She did it to herself....if we were supposed to live 50 feet off the ground we'd have farking wings.

When trees become more important than the livelihood of people, when tree hugging terrorist spike trees and injure people in sawmills....that's SAD.

The DUMBASS tag is well deserved. Shame on you for confusing your right of free speech with your imaginary right to control everyone else's life.
2002-04-14 01:06:14 AM
I totally agree with you, exept for one thing.
It's funny as hell.

I believe we are killing our enviroment, and thus killing ourselves. But you won't see me life one damn finger. Cause I can't wait for this wretched throbbing boil on earths ass called Humanity to be wiped out.

If everyone wants to kill themselves slowly, not my problem.
I'll even contribute. If people aren't smart enough to save themselves, good riddence.
