Important: You MUST be the photographer of the photos you submit. Do NOT submit anyone else's photography as your own.

Ideally, your photograph should be presented as taken, with as little alteration in Photoshop or other image editing programs as possible. Please refer to submission rules for acceptable and non-acceptable modifications.

Submission Rules.

Only 3 photo submissions allowed. Please place each photo into a seperate post.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers. Any person or entity using any photo outside of this contest without written consent from it's copyright holder is subject to punishment by the full extent of copyright laws.

This Weeks Theme: Man's Erections

Description:
Pictures of (ok perverts, it's not what you think) man's architecture. Acceptable submissions include houses, barns, factories, stores, high rises, etc. They should be buildings in which people either work or live in, so no monuments, statues, bridges, or the like. Submissions do not have to contain the entire building in the image, but any portions of the building should be a decent representation of the building. These should be exterior shots and not interior shots.

Note: It was asked whether or not churchs would be acceptable for this contest. I decided that they would not be acceptable as I would like to keep churchs for a future theme. I hope this doesn't mess anyone up. Thank you.

I think I posted that on the Farktography site on the 23rd or 24th. Sorry for the inconvenience. I plan to have a religious based theme in the future and want to keep that option open for that.

erection:

1. The act of erecting.
2. Something erected; a construction.

I can't help it that people have dirty minds. This is Fark BTW.

ha! i know, i just noticed that. only difference is in your picture the building looks hideously old. (not a commentary on your shot, but on the state of the building when you took the picute. must not have been cleaned in a while!)

i like your shot. well framed, and flag ads an excellent shot. feels very post 9/11 even if it is several states over

rcf1105 i liked your boobies better. that was the one i voted for. the sky, snow on roof and snow at foreground being the same general tone brings out the building's facade which is interesting especially when there is the center element for accent. the second one (to me) is too busy.

That be Chicago, or Gotham City as I call it. Photo was taken from the NBC Plaza on Michigan Ave towards East Wacker Drive.

I had to futz around with the white balance to get the sky to be that color. Chicago usualy has this orange glow to it (which I think looks fantastic), but I wanted a more gothic feel for this shot.

The California Dehydrating Company building awaits demolition as the Ziggurat building looks on in the distance.

Ever since I was a kid, I thought the California Dehydrating Company building was very cool. When I heard that it was finally going to be torn down after being vacant for quite some time, it inspired me to finally buy a real camera of my own, after not having used one since high school. I picked up a nice Pentax K1000 setup and used up the first roll of film on the building somewhere around Fall of 2003. Unfortunately, being the first pictures I'd taken in years, I wasn't especially happy with the results, and to add insult to injury, I got the roll developed at the supermarket instead of a place that knows what it's doing (or cares). That said, I was glad to get some pictures taken of the place before it was picked apart.

And that's the Story No One Cares About. :)

Hoover Dam, midnight about a week before Christmas.

I moved from Chicago to Seattle last year, and made a very long road trip in two legs. Chicago down to OKC and west to Vegas, where I spent five days, then west to I-5 and up to Seattle. My last day of the first leg I drove through half of New Mexico and all of Arizona to Vegas, and I was very tired heading into the Lake Mead area knowing that I was getting close finally. Unfortunately traffic was completely stopped for a bad accident, and everyone just sat on their cars and watched some meteors fly by for about an hour. After traffic finally got going we were driving past the dam and I couldn't resist pulling off at an observation area and just chilling out. The exposure on this is around six minutes.

No voting on this one since I don't think it quite fits the theme, and really its not that great a photo, but I couldn't resBoobiesing it as I ran across it while going through photos.

Imperial Address Hall, Tokyo. There's unfortunately no way to get the picture without the throngs of people, since this view is only open to the public twice a year...

Some nice stuff here people. I should be able to update the Farktography site tonight.

I'm gonna add here as well as the site, that some people are not reading the contest rules and submitting images that don't fit the theme. I know sometimes there may be some grey areas but some were quite obvious they don't fit.

Don't forget to keep checking the Farktography site for updates before each contest. Cya next week! :)

CyberTiburonX: Harpers Ferry church, December 26th 2002

CuddleButt:

Note: It was asked whether or not churchs would be acceptable for this contest. I decided that they would not be acceptable as I would like to keep churchs for a future theme. I hope this doesn't mess anyone up. Thank you.

Had this been greenlighted sometime within the 3-hours following the time it was supposed to have been posted, I like to think this would've had a shot at getting more than 2 votes. </whine>

Hey, Total-Farkers, are you trying to avoid the rivalry of the Fark-Liters by not posting the link at the main page for 4 hours last night?
Especially after a Fark-Liter won the previous contest?
He-he, not quite fair, is it?

Do you have a larger/full size version of that image somewhere I might be able to get to? I'd like to take a closer look.
