2002-04-09 12:17:57 PM
Skyrocket? fark you, I paid $1.92 to fill up just last week.
2002-04-09 12:18:12 PM
they are already $1.56 in MN. If $1.62 is the cap, I am a happy camper!
2002-04-09 12:18:12 PM
Yea but what does this have to do with the price of Heroin ?
2002-04-09 12:18:23 PM
Just another reason for my parents to keep me locked up in their house again this summer. God fudge packing damnit I hate my life...
2002-04-09 12:18:25 PM
To quote Queen:
I want to ride my bicycle; I want to ride my bike.
I want to ride my bicycle; I want to ride it where I like.'

Thank you.
2002-04-09 12:18:31 PM
It's already $1.50 in Oregon... luckily I work in Vancouver, WA (just across the river) where it's a good 30 cents cheaper... gotta love collusion!
2002-04-09 12:18:40 PM
I can smell smoke beginning to rise from a smoldering flamewar . . .
2002-04-09 12:18:54 PM
Skyrocket to? Freaking potatoes I'm already paying that. I wonder how much higher itll get....
2002-04-09 12:18:59 PM
My "Ginger" is electric!!

2002-04-09 12:19:08 PM
That's all? I can live with it.
2002-04-09 12:19:26 PM
$1.62 ? One dollar sixty two cents? And you're complaining? You Septics don't know you're born! We're paying about $5 a gallon over here in Britain (at least) AND we've got worse teeth than you.
2002-04-09 12:19:29 PM
it sure beats walking.
2002-04-09 12:19:37 PM
I wish it was only $1.46. In San Diego even the cheapest Arco stations its $1.56.
2002-04-09 12:20:10 PM
How is this headline funny? How is this article funny?

I'm not going to protest about my article being funnier, I'm just saying there probably are some back there. I think Drew's trying to get us to join TotalFark.
2002-04-09 12:20:16 PM

I got to ride one of those things. They are pretty cool, but the only place I see them working out is on college campuses, where parking is difficult and the distances aren't too far.
2002-04-09 12:20:33 PM
Squirm, you Escalade driving, can't walk anywhere suburban pussies!!! SQUIRM! HA!

Rot in Schaumburg.
2002-04-09 12:20:34 PM
The article talks about the record set last May.

IIRC, that was the record just before Memorial Day weekend and prices went back down the next week. At least here in TX. Supply and demand or just opportunity to make a buck?

Isn't it funny how quickly gas prices go up due to "mideast tensions" or whatever and how they take a month or two to go back down?
2002-04-09 12:20:42 PM
I filled up for $1.29 in Atlanta, we always have cheap gas for some reason.
2002-04-09 12:20:50 PM
I'm holding out for the nicely rounded out $2.00 limit.
2002-04-09 12:21:05 PM
Does that mean Brits are gonna have even less money to spend at the dentist this year? Or do they even have dentists on the Isle of Brit?
2002-04-09 12:21:41 PM

I was totally joking those things are stupid.

Cool, but stupid.
2002-04-09 12:21:43 PM
does everybody here know that Saddam stopped all gas exports for a month to protest the Israel thing?
2002-04-09 12:21:56 PM
In inflation adjusted terms, the 50-year average is $1.89. Yes, gas was only 27 cents in 1950, but $1 in 1950 is $7.54 thanks to inflation.

So everyone, quit yer whining. Your dad and grandpa paid more than you do in real terms.
2002-04-09 12:22:26 PM
....I was gonna complain about paying $1.42 but I'll shut up and be happy I'm not in California.
2002-04-09 12:22:34 PM
Lest we forget that $1.62/gallon is the price BEFORE taxes, the real price, add $0.50 for a nice fat round figure of $2.12/gallon for low-test, 2.27 for 89 octane, and 2.37 for high octane.
2002-04-09 12:22:37 PM
They are going to drink more coffee
2002-04-09 12:23:31 PM
anyone remember when gas was 75-89 cents per gallon?
2002-04-09 12:24:20 PM
Who knew? This has become a "How much gas is where I live" thing. BTW, $1.43 here.
2002-04-09 12:24:22 PM
Big whoop, it was $2.09/gal not that long ago here in northern cali. At one point in San Francisco I saw it as high as $2.35/gal. Although a couple of months ago it was as low as $1.05 at my local Arco. Gee, gas prices go up and down??
2002-04-09 12:24:37 PM
Let's put this in perspective, ok? How much is gas in Europe? A LOT. And just be glad you're not filling up with milk, or NyQuil. NyQuil's expensive stuff, like $130 a gallon or something. Gas is cheap by comparison to most other bulk fluids.
2002-04-09 12:24:42 PM
Couple months ago, we had a price war between a Kroger and Meijer gas station. Dropped all the way to a dime a gallon. Those were the days.
2002-04-09 12:24:52 PM
skyrocket, bah its a 1.89 in San Diego, It hasn't droped below 1.50 in 2 years.
2002-04-09 12:25:44 PM
I'm sure us Brits are paying $8 a gallon.

Top Tip: Americans, keep on living in your big oily bubble, thinking you're the only people in the world.
2002-04-09 12:25:44 PM

Yep, but the US only gets about 5% of their oil from Iraq, so CNN says not to worry, it won't make a difference...
2002-04-09 12:25:45 PM

Those are pump prices. You're flat wrong.

And the word you're looking for is "Wah!".
2002-04-09 12:25:51 PM
I'm not complaining. [h4]
2002-04-09 12:26:18 PM
BTEzra420: I have a dentist, and almost, but not quite straight teeth which are nearly the right colour. I have to keep him hostage and locked in a dark cupboard in case anyone else needs him.

Blame Margaret "Bloody" Thatcher for "improving" the dental service by closin them all down. Hope she dies soon.
2002-04-09 12:26:18 PM
Well, I've been seeing about $1.35 around Houston, so that jump is a real hardship here.

Now, that e-mail I've been getting has been telling me to boycott ExxonMobil or gas prices will shoot to $3 a gallon. Oh me oh my!

To continue with Scaryduck's horror stories, I paid about $3.75 a gallon for unleaded in northeast France...a dozen years ago. Anyone know what it costs in Reims now?
2002-04-09 12:26:47 PM
What part of San Diego do you live in Gaanja? It was less than 1.50 4 weeks ago ;p
2002-04-09 12:26:54 PM
I ride a motorcycle when I can, and I say to you oh-so-smarmy SUV punks, Tough love, suckers!
2002-04-09 12:27:31 PM
I was paying over 2.00 a gallon last summer here in san diego. I hope that doesnt come again
2002-04-09 12:28:05 PM
I am pretty sure that the oil companies hate CA. There is no reason gas here should be .50 more than anywhere else. And San Francisco is .50 higher, sometimes, than Santa Barbara. The farked up thing is that the scarcity of this resource is artifically inflated by our friends in the gulf to keep them in power and make them just enough money to stay in power and not shut down the world economy.......Blasted Cartels.....
2002-04-09 12:28:06 PM
Imagine if you had to fill your tank with 15 gallons of Ultra Slim Fast.

You car might be able to slimmer down, but it would be an expensive endeavor.

If you like driving, you gotta pay for gas. I like driving. Therefore I pay for gas.
2002-04-09 12:28:37 PM
I remember when gas was 77 cents per gallon. I also remember biatchin' when the price shot up to 91 cents per gallon.

Here in NC, gas runs about $1.39. I can go home and get it for $1.23

I hate paying more than $1 per gallon.
2002-04-09 12:28:57 PM
Rozell's company doesn't see gasoline prices reaching the $1.71 it would take to be the May 15 record -- "barring a major catastrophe in the Middle East."

Right... and there's no signs of anything like that on the horizon.
2002-04-09 12:29:54 PM

i'm not worried, but it still puts pressure on other oil producing countries for those that depend on Iraq. but Saudi has already assured everyone that there will be no shortage.
2002-04-09 12:30:31 PM
SCARYDUCK----I always wondered who was responsible....BTW....have they decriminalized Mary Jane yet?
