Anybody ever heard of this guy before today?

2005-05-04 10:03:14 AM
Nope.

2005-05-04 10:05:00 AM
I haven't either... I tend not to remember names that have more than 5 syllables.

2005-05-04 10:05:34 AM
I had his rookie card, but I traded it for a Hussein and two Rumsfelds.

2005-05-04 10:06:07 AM
Lord knows the most reliable sources on the planet are the government and security officials of Pakistan.

2005-05-04 10:06:49 AM
Just think, once they get #1 there will be ever lasting peace.

He once shook hands with Osama's nextdoor-neighbour's cousin's babysitter, which places him squarely at the heart of the deadly terror organisation, apparently.

2005-05-04 10:09:24 AM
I can't wait 'til they get bin Laden and Zarqawi -- then all terrorism will end.

2005-05-04 10:09:43 AM
Who cares. This is like the argument Rummy keeps making that we've killed or captured most of the original Al Queda leadership. Even capturing Bin Laden at this point would be symbolic at best. It won't make a difference and scores of people will continue to die every week like they did this morning thanks to this mess the US has made.

When I start seeing violence decline instead of escalate, I'll believe we're making progress over there.

But this escalation in attacks just means they're desperate!!!1

/save it

2005-05-04 10:09:46 AM
I hope this guy is the real deal. The last one they caught was supposedly responsible for 80% of the car bombings. Yeah, right.

2005-05-04 10:10:24 AM
GooberMcFly: I traded it for a Hussein and two Rumsfelds.

Dammit, I almost spilled my beer when I read that. Beer!

Agreed. That is the one of the most ridiculous things that I've ever heard. I guess the Tet Offensive was an act of desperation.

awwe, they made his mascara run

2005-05-04 10:16:00 AM
sweet, I hope they punch him in both eyes. oh, looks like they did.

2005-05-04 10:17:35 AM
Looks like the after effects of a chemical burn, directed at his face

2005-05-04 10:19:45 AM
He had to be fairly important to have a 1 million dollar bounty on his head.

vliam:

No, he was the chief bomb 'builder'. Notice that most of the bombings now are manually triggered car bombs and not as many remote bombs? See the link?

It looks like he has vitiligo, more commonly known as Michael Jackson disease. Maybe he wants to be a white woman to throw off DHS.

Your headline gave me my first laugh of the day :)

I may be in the minority on this, but I do not believe that Osama is still alive.

The dude was releasing videos all the time before we went into Afghanistan. Now all you get are some very questionable audio releases. The guy was an attention whore and he wouldn't have gone this long without releasing something showing him still alive.

My question is this: who benefits the most from keeping him alive? Al Qaeda? The US? If he's still alive to al Qaeda, then they use him as a leader and a recruiting tool. If he's still alive to the US, he gets used to sell the 'war on terror'. The boogeyman is still alive, and we need to spend money to get him.

My thought is, if you really want to find him, start claiming that he's dead and has been for a while. If he really is still alive he'll be showing his face and maybe then we have a chance to find him.

I'm not a conspiracy theory guy in the least, but I'll wear a tinfoil hat for this one anytime.

Nice headline.

Demetrius: I may be in the minority on this, but I do not believe that Osama is still alive.

So you think the video released just before the elections was taped a long time ago?

2005-05-04 10:38:54 AM
He'd better be alive. That bastard owes me $5.

/My money is that he's alive and in Pakistan

damitjim

So you think the video released just before the elections was taped a long time ago?

No, I question the authenticity of the tape to begin with. There are a lot of reasonable questions whether or not that was even bin Laden.

I could absolutely be totally wrong, and I'm happy to admit that. Personally, I do hope the asshole is dead. And with the shiatstorm that the US military laid down on Afghanistan, I think that they did get him.

Hee Hee. Bush is so funny.

"His arrest removes a dangerous enemy who is a direct threat to America and for those who love freedom."

What about those who hate freedom? Or those who only sorta kinda like freedom in that non-physical way? Or those who have recently broken up with freedom?

2005-05-04 1:30:02 PM
Wait a sec. I thought we were over there for cheap gas.

I read that and almost laughed enough to produce #1 in my pants.

2005-05-04 1:30:49 PM
Who the hell is Osama Bin Laden?

2005-05-04 1:30:59 PM
As a recommendation, watch The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear for an interesting perspective on the origins of Al-Qaeda. It gives interesting arguments why people nobody's ever heard of are these evil masterminds.

2005-05-04 1:31:09 PM
I doubt OBL is worried -- let alone crapping his pants.

2005-05-04 1:31:33 PM
Whoa fark is slow?

2005-05-04 1:31:41 PM
If they find out where UBL or Zarqon are hiding I hope they have the sense to not go in if their cover is in tact. Set up a listening post, intercept transmissions, follow who visits, etc, etc. Don't shoot a goose that lays golden eggs just to show it to all your friends.

We never offered an award on this guy. I detect some spinning to inflate the importance of the arrest.

Hah! I always scoffed at the "they hate our freedom" arguments. What a load of BS.

2005-05-04 1:33:09 PM
Bullshiat! They didn't catch Osama, so they've got no business bragging. This guy is nobody.

2005-05-04 1:33:29 PM
I can't wait until they catch Ali Outsinfree. Seriously, cheers to our guys on this one.

A photograph of al-Libbi released by the government Wednesday and taken after his arrest shows a disheveled, bearded man with sunken eyes and what appears to be a skin condition.

Because no one takes the time to MOISTURIZE!!!

2005-05-04 1:33:32 PM
Abu Farraj al-Libbi was often confused for Abu Farraj ad-Libbi, a hilarious improvosational actor whose exploits and escapades alongside his wise-cracking sidekick, Mr. Teensie can be seen on FOX this fall!

who cares if he is dead. this fight will not end with his death, or zarqawi's death, or omar's death. terrorists are born where the bombs fall, and we have no shortage of those.

2005-05-04 1:35:01 PM
I thought we already caught Saddam? Oh wait...

/fuel on the fire.
