This is an outrage
2005-04-21 11:54:28 AM
getting a star is alot like getting inducted to the rock and roll hall of fame. no one cares.
2005-04-21 11:59:03 AM

They also gave a star to that security officer in eposide #213 of Star Trek.

I remember him, that was the black guy that died in the first 5 minutes right?

/thinks it's an insult to give it to someone like Seacrest when so many other big stars are still without one. He might deserve one, but not this quickly, he cut in line.
2005-04-21 12:00:13 PM
You see, Hollywood Stars are decided by a series of bl*wj*bs, the side who gives the best ones wins.
2005-04-21 12:00:20 PM
I've already said what I had to say a few days ago.

2005-04-21 12:01:41 PM

So - umm... how exactly are these stars given out? I don't think anyone's explained it yet...
2005-04-21 12:09:22 PM
I'm president of the Ryan Seacreast hate club. We have over 6 billion members worldwide.
2005-04-21 12:11:10 PM
Listen, it doesn't make you "cool" to say "I don't know who this person is" or "Who?"

And it doesn't make you cool to point out that people aren't cool.

I honestly didn't know who the guy was.
2005-04-21 12:12:03 PM
Paula Abdul is next, so watch out, Lazlo Panaflex.
2005-04-21 12:12:46 PM
I'm with dly on this one. The only way to stop this crap is through revolution.
2005-04-21 12:14:56 PM
a little known fact: these days, anyone with enough money can BUY a star on the walk of fame.
2005-04-21 12:16:16 PM
If there was ever a time for a flash mob with eggs and Gummi Bears...
2005-04-21 12:16:36 PM
First of all, he got the star for Radio, not for TV or acting. He's been a radio host here in LA for quite some time, and he's really opened the door for a lot of people in LA to get their shot on the radio and what not.

His claim to fame maybe nationwide is American Idol, but he really did all of his work on radio before that.

He deserves it more than a lot of people, but there were better choices for a star (Howard Stern for instance).

You people are failing to realize this is for radio. Get over yourself.

In following all the links, I found that Darth Vader has a spot at Gauman's Chinese Theater, as does George Lucas. No word on when Jar Jar's ceremony will be

Does Fark have over 15,000 users?

Do they all have at least $1?

2005-04-21 12:19:02 PM
I say we invade california next.

Do you really want California as part of the Union? I mean, think about it; we fought to keep the South in the Union and look what a mistake that was. Almost as bad as annexing Texas.

2005-04-21 12:25:23 PM
Whoever wanted to get a star for Drew, here's how you go about it.

To nominate your favorite celebrity for a star on the Walk of Fame, send a S.A.S.E. to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, 7018 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, CA. 90028.

Anyone want to spearhead this campaign?
2005-04-21 12:27:20 PM

Abe Vigoda doesn't have a star...

Here you go...

2005-04-21 12:46:26 PM
I'll wear my I (heart) vigina pin and walk in some dog shiat and then walk across his star singing MacArthur Park.

/ryan is an asshat.
2005-04-21 12:50:24 PM
Stupid goes to the poster! He got this for RADIO, Hollywood had nothing to due with it.

I love people who read the first sentence then post and look like a dumbass :)
2005-04-21 01:06:27 PM
Can you see all the stars as you walk down hollywood blvd,
Some that you recognize, some that hardly even heard of...

Guess Ray had it right.

Shouldn't Carrot-top be before Semencrest?

There's a hold up in getting the cement deep enough

For all of you defending his radio prowess:

Good for him. We still have the right to think he's an annoying @ss clown when we see him on tv. I dislike him so much that I take it personal to have to look at him for the 30 seconds before the show I turned over to watch comes on.
2005-04-21 01:13:05 PM

Listen, it doesn't make you "cool" to say "I don't know who this person is" or "Who?"

I think it's ridiculous too.
And I have never seen one episode of American Idol.
I don't even have anything against it, per se.
I have just enver seen it.
But guess what?

I know who Ryan Seacrest is. No, I don't think he deserves a star.
But please stop with the "who" comments.
We get it.
We get it! You're way above it all!

amen to that...I wish "The Onion" allowed searching back issues still, they did a great lampoon on this, as an interview with the friends of a guy who had to work the fact he didn't own a television into every conversation.
Everytime I read a "who is this person" comment, I can imagine the poster's grade school days being filled with a lot of beatings.
2005-04-21 01:21:00 PM
More like Walk of Lame!!!1111!

I (heart) when elitists rag on other posters for being elitist.

I'm pretty sure that Redford and his ilk were offered stars, but probably politely declined to attend the ceremony within the five year limit. Oh, boy, their loss!
2005-04-21 01:32:56 PM
When does Brian Dunkelman get his star??
2005-04-21 01:40:31 PM
jgm1976 : i searched this page for "dunkelman" before I posted... that's what I get for poor spelling.
2005-04-21 01:41:14 PM
And yet still the massses must cry out for for the mario star
2005-04-21 01:45:49 PM
Hey guys, you can get a star for anyone you want. Plunk down .. it's either $5K or $10K.. i don't remember.
2005-04-21 01:47:12 PM
AgentONeal, thanks for finally mentioning that; Seacrest was given the star for his radio stuff, not AI. I just now am seeing this thread, and I'm surprised it took that long for someone to mention that.

Doesn't mean I don't think he's a tool.
2005-04-21 01:58:07 PM

I used one of their buddy icons for months, twice.

I like some of the Photoshops there. I smell a good theme for Fark.
2005-04-21 02:01:48 PM

Submitter here. Yes, I read the entire article, and very Boobies in this thread mentioned that it was for radio. He did not become a recognizable personality for his radio work, he did so by being the host of "American Idol". To say that he is deserving of a star for his radio work is to say that Shadoe Stevens deserves one, too.
2005-04-21 02:03:24 PM
Stupid fark filter. "Boobies" = "the comment that I posted ahead of anything else I posted".
2005-04-21 02:13:25 PM
Actually he was pretty recognized before Idol. A LOT of people listen to that American Top 40 show - you probably never hear of Casey Casem, either? You don't get a shot at filling those shoes without some gusto on your resume.
2005-04-21 02:25:11 PM
Yes, I've heard of Casey Kasem (and even know how to spell his name). Shadoe Stevens and Rick Dees had their shots, too. What's your point?

Five years after he stops hosting "American Idol", nobody will remember him. People will pass by his star and say, "Hmmm... I don't remember this guy."
2005-04-21 02:30:44 PM
To say that he is deserving of a star for his radio work is to say that Shadoe Stevens deserves one, too.

Um, I'd check hisbio (scroll down) before I said that.

When Seacrest does 1/3 the things Stevens has done for radio, then he might deserve it.

Besides, Stevens also played Fred Rated. I think we see who the clear winner is here...
2005-04-21 02:31:26 PM
You may have heard of Casey Kasem...but did you know he did Shaggy's voice for Scooby-Doo??
2005-04-21 02:35:55 PM
BESURETODRINKYOUROVALTINE - exactly. Maybe if Seacrest continues to work in radio for another 10 years, he might be deserving of a star. Right now? No farking way does he deserve it.
2005-04-21 02:40:50 PM
After reading this thread it makes very little sense; as apposed to being an insane idea before reading it. I'm only assuming that Seacrest is the 'heir' to CasyKasem's/Dick Clark's pop culture duties. Which makes sense, American Band Stand and Top 40 with Casey Kasem were a HUGE part of generations of music it or not this guy Seacreat is now the next caretaker of that tradition. I blame International Communism for this debacle.
2005-04-21 03:00:03 PM
Does anyone watch american idol?

Occasionally Simon will make fun of his career and seacrest gets mad - i mean, he really doesn't like it. He always comes back with something lame and mean to which simon always just laughs off. The guy is a complete tool - I would love to see simon jump up on stage one day and just cold cock him one...

/actually I would like to see anyone cold cock him
//yes i do watch the show - but I watch it for the sometimes good boobies
2005-04-21 03:50:25 PM
dettigersnw22: This is a joke. Admiral Ackbar doesnt even have a star yet!

2005-04-21 04:08:25 PM
For the umpteenth time:

One does not receive a star. One buys a star.

I'm just glad my pet snake Reggie bought one before this no-talent-assbag did.
