Sounds like a photoshop contest: PS one of the holes at Gitmo. (with or without prisoner difficulty).

My dad is actually doing contract work at Guantanamo.

The real golf course is very interesting, they only water the greens, so, you have to take a little piece of astroturf around with you to play your ball off of, the "fairways" are basically dirt & gravel otherwise.

I could see them playing with their Cuban counterparts across the fenceline. They flag an area where the ball is, and the Cubans take shots at the ball.

My wife and I were stationed in Gitmo for four years back when it was just a small Naval base with no mission other then fleet training and being a thorn in the side of Fidel Castro.

Just loved the placed, good housing, nice people to work with, great fishing, no fast food joints (you learned how to cook for yourself), and 1 damn TV channel (we got out of the TV habit cause it was so bad).

Best duty station that the Navy ever sent me too and now days its a concentration camp for people who never even got a trial.

Very Sad for me!

After a hard day of torturing prisoners, there is nothing like kicking back for a little leisure.

Human rights abuses in Cuba would decline by about 95% if the Americans retruned Guantanamo to the Cubans.

I golf 300 yards from 4000 Cubans who are trained to kill me, so don't think for one second that you can come down here, flash a badge, and make me nervous.

all your base are belong to minigolf

I smell possible headline soon enough:

"Prison inmates take over Guantanamo prison, guards' heads impaled on golf clubs"

Rodents of unusual size?

"The fourth hole is prisoner 4382116 spread eagled, face down"

Adds a whole new meaning to "play it where it lies".
2005-03-29 01:46:29 PM
Or "as it lies".
2005-03-29 01:50:59 PM
Rodents of unusual size?

I don't think they exist.
2005-03-29 01:51:45 PM
Go ahead & say it... Everyone in the military is a sadistic coward.
The mini golf thing is obviously a front for the puppy kicking booth.
2005-03-29 01:57:23 PM
Son of Thunder: I don't think they exist.

Thats your first mistake bucko.

My goodness. It's about time.

Uncertainty shrouds the future of the prison after court rulings undermined the government's argument that 545 detainees from 40 countries are beyond the reach of the U.S. legal system and are not entitled to the same protections as prisoners of war held under the Geneva Conventions.

"Aw, shiat! We're not gonna lose our Starbucks, are we?"

"I know deep down in places you dont talk about at parties, you don't want me to sink that 25 foot putt. You need me to sink that putt.. We use words like Caddie, Backswing, and Mulligan. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent playing golf. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who tries to improve his lie after hooking it into the deep rough off of Hole 17. I prefer you said "Nice shot, Colonel", and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a Six Iron and just ease the ball out from under the palm tree . Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!"

Golf is stupid - I tried to use one of those so-called ball washers once and I couldn't walk for a week afterwards...
2005-03-29 02:14:29 PM
Cool. Maybe the incidents of torture will go down...
2005-03-29 02:19:49 PM
In other news: soon U.S. citizens will only be able to read news stories damaging to their sense of national pride in the foreign press.

Oh, wait, that's already happened.
2005-03-29 02:23:09 PM
I say we use the prisoners as caddies. Let them earn their keep.

I have two books at my bedside, Lieutenant: the Professional Miniature Golf Association Code of Conduct and the King James Bible. The only proper authorities I am aware of are Thomas Frederickson, 2003 tour champion, and the Lord our God.

And if a hole proves to be substandard, they can always stuff it with rags.

Don't call me son. I'm a golfer and member in the United States Navy Country Club. And you get a one stroke penalty, you son of a biatch.

As for you morans with your indignant "US Guantanamo crimes" posts, wrong post, wrong thread, wrong time.

/jebus, grow up...
2005-03-29 02:51:55 PM

Actually, there is no wrong time to protest torture.

Unless you're a Republican...
2005-03-29 02:57:34 PM

Dude there are as many posts about war crimes at Gitmo in this thread as there are inches in the length of your johnson.
2005-03-29 03:51:19 PM

Actually, there is no wrong time to protest torture.

There are, however, times when your protests would be taken more seriously. I don't think a thread regarding mini-golf is one of them.

/yes i'm republican. i eat defenseless babies for breakfast, and kick puppies for afternoon exercise

So that's where the EIGHT BILLION + U.S. Tax Payer Dollars missing from Iraq went.
