Orangutan and anyone else who will listen to my heart-attack-prone-ramblings:

As much as I wanted NC to win, I had my fingers crossed half way through for Villanova. WHAT A GAME for Ray and Lowry.

heart and soul of that game. Christ. Don't think for a second I didn't know NC was playing like shiat.

I don't care what anyone says, I think a Kentucky vs Villanova game would have been one hell of a game to see.
2005-03-26 10:44:13 PM
Did the dude from Arizona forget there was only 11 Seconds left??? Shoot the Damm Ball!!! That shot should have been taken 7 seconds earlier!
2005-03-26 10:46:12 PM
Arizona choked like the Yankees
/yankee fan
2005-03-26 10:47:03 PM
I'd just like to say, that I've lost $10 on the work pool, and NO, i did not pick Duke. If i've learned anything from Fark, it would be that DUKE SUCKS!!!
2005-03-26 10:49:18 PM
I can't believe UofL pulled that off!!! And with Garcia out!!!! I thought I was going to go into cardiac arrest.

/Go cards!
2005-03-26 10:49:40 PM
I still can't figure out what happened to my champion---Wake Forest???? What a horrible pick from a defending office pool champ huh?
2005-03-26 10:51:07 PM
Louisville's tenacity is unbelievable. WVU played a hellva game, also. Absolutely unbelievable game. I really hope to see a Kentucky vs. Louisville game for the national championship... with Louisville winning. :) Oh, and the Illinios/Arizona game rocked, too! Good b-ball tonight.
2005-03-26 10:51:22 PM

...please don't bring up Wake Forest.

I am trying to work off my game-win-high right now. Don't remind me of either Duke or Wake-farking-forest.

2005-03-26 10:53:50 PM
I love life right now.
I love the beautiful Chicago skyline.
I love kittens.
I love parity in college basketball.

OT is OK!

/my brackets are blazing

Oh, and by the way, if any of you think that I have been wearing a tinfoil helmet to get my picks, let me lay down a few facts for you:

1) I correctly called Bucknell to topple Kansas
2) After the first 2 rounds, I was 39-9 on my picks
3) After the round of 16, I was 44-12
4) All of my final 4 picks are still active (Ill, UNC, UK, Louisville)
5) My tinfoil helmet allows me to communicate with the ghost of Adolph Rupp, as well as god

Wait, how long til college football starts?

My school doesn't have a (men's) basketball team.

2005-03-26 11:00:22 PM
even thou I've done poorly, this has been one heck of a tournament!!!

By the way, My team doesn't appear to have a B-Ball team either

Good season, WVU. I'll miss coming to the games on the weekends. You guys have more heart than any team I've ever seen. No one thought you'd make it this far, but you did. It's too bad it had to end... But thank you for the great season.
2005-03-26 11:01:18 PM
ARIZONA played well - it was Stoudamire who choked tonight. Illinois did not deserve to win. If Stoudamire was playing well then AZ would have rocked Illini and there would have never been OT. Illinios is still over rated and, if they beat louisville, will be put in their place by UK. There goes my bracket...
2005-03-26 11:03:03 PM

Big 10 pwns joo!

It's Big Ten. And yes, they do own everyone else.
2005-03-26 11:03:20 PM
Arizona should know by now that it's impossible to shoot a basketball when you have your hands wrapped around your throat.
2005-03-26 11:03:52 PM
The ESPN sponsored ACC can go ahead and start licking the balls of the Big 10+1.

Big Ten 3

2005-03-26 11:11:58 PM

If Stoudamire was playing well then AZ would have rocked Illini and there would have never been OT

If you're going to judge whether a team deserved to win or not on ifs and buts then I could just as easily say that Arizona didn't deserve to win against OSU because OSU wasn't shooting as well as the team normally does.
2005-03-26 11:12:24 PM
No UVaFarkenRocks Stoudamire didn't choke tonight. He was shut down by the Illinios defense.

/Wisconsin fan, seen how good they really are.
2005-03-26 11:14:47 PM
oh yeah,

2005-03-26 11:15:00 PM
Wait a minute. Which sport is this discussion for? Because the NCAA tournament is going on for at least 3 sports right now (Men's BBall, Women's BBall, and Men's Ice Hockey are on tv). I would assume Women's Ice Hockey has a tourny going on, or just finished it. I know men's swimming has the NCAA championships right now too.
2005-03-26 11:15:25 PM
Woohoo! University of North Dakota beats Boston U last night and then put the smackdown on Boston College tonight to advance to the Frozen Four! Go Sioux!!!

Wait, this is the NCAA Hockey thread right? Awww...

Looking like the Big Televen Tournament, Part Deux next week.
2005-03-26 11:28:17 PM
I'd post, but what's the point...I'd rather sit through a religious debate with Jerry Fallwell and Marilyn Manson...

Big Ten v. ACC

People I don't know, playing a game I was never good at, for schools I don't go to. How, oh how, can you get so worked up?

/I even love college hoops
//But in the end, it's just people talking smack about people, playing a game, that will be over, and forgotten about WHEN WE ALL FRIGGIN DIE!
///Not sure where that came from, back to my box...
2005-03-26 11:28:23 PM
Arizona choked in overtime, but it never should have gotten that far - they should have won by 10 points on foul shots in the last minute alone. Illinois mugged them big time, and the refs looked the other way.

Must be nice to play at home all the way thru the tourney.

Still - a fifteen point lead with 4:00 left? Can't blame it all on the refs.
2005-03-26 11:31:00 PM
Where is everyone who was on Reddick's jock (yes, I know, the 80's called and wants its sports slang back) last night? The folks going on and on about how he was shut down because he was weak, and the folks talking about Stoudamire being the far superior player.

I really detest Duke, and am typically supportive of U of A, though I have no real ties to them. But it sure seems that if we look at their lines from the games, Salim's dominance isn't as obvious as it apparently should be:

Reddick FG: 4-14 FT: 2-2 3pt: 3-9 Total points: 13
Stoudamire FG: 2-13 FT: 4-4 3pt: 1-7 Total points: 9

I'm just sayin'.
2005-03-26 11:32:16 PM
The refs did a nice job not calling SHIAT late in the game... Illinois got pretty damn lucky, as they got the benefit of the doubt nearly every time.

That being said, Zona should have NEVER let them back in. I can't complain too much about crappy officiating when you choke that hard.
2005-03-26 11:34:28 PM
Oh. My. Friggin'. God.

I sound like Bruce Weber right now.

Best college basketball game I have ever, ever seen or heard about.

I wonder if Wisky or the Sparties will have the honor of losing to us in the NC game?
2005-03-26 11:37:08 PM
Hm... there's obviously no difference in talent between Illinois and Michigan State... nope, none. Reddick and Stoudamire were playing the exact same teams...
2005-03-26 11:37:20 PM
I love it when CBS annoints somebody as the Second Coming only to have he show up human, after all.

"Salim Stoudamire is one of the great shooters in the history of College Basketball."

At 2-13? Jerry West and Oscar Robertson called--they'd like their titles back.
2005-03-26 11:38:03 PM
There are 3 certain things in life.

1. Death
2. Taxes
3. PAC-10 March tournament choking

Ok...make that 4...

4. PAC-10 fans biatching about officiating after #3

Arizona is one "Miles Simon Game of His Life" away from being the biggest choke artists of all time.

Seriously who drew up that last Zona play? Zeppo Marx?

Text taken directly from the Zona huddle:

"Ok...we've got 12 seconds's what we do...dribble around pointlessly for 8 seconds...get the ball in the hands of a forward 23 feet away from the basket...attempt the worst ball fake sense since the George Mikan era, then chuck up the ball with a two-hand heave...yea...that will work...ok...hands in...1, 2, 3 choke, er, team"
2005-03-26 11:38:38 PM
Shaking Update: Yep. Still shaking.

I really think I should still have a doctor examine me. My heart is still racing and it's been hours...
2005-03-26 11:38:52 PM
Basically, I win my pool with a UNC win over Illinois in the final. That's it.

2005-03-26 11:40:25 PM
2005-03-26 11:45:09 PM
Sadly, he is one of the better shooters I've ever seen.
But even the best have their days of choking.

Yes... Hassan Adams did exactly what coach told him... Olson is that stupid, it wasn't the player's fault for being an idiot.
2005-03-26 11:45:53 PM
So much for my fingernails...

/was going to school there when the Illini choked vs. Austin Peay
2005-03-26 11:48:46 PM
And hey, I guess typical Pac10 fans live in St. Louis (like the person who first mentioned the questionable calls late in the game)...
2005-03-26 11:50:40 PM
Asshat, er, puffy
2005-03-26 11:55:32 PM
The Big Ten certainly has acquitted itself well in the tourney. I'm proud of them.

And still proud of my Buckeyes for being the only team to give the Illini true hell this year.
2005-03-27 12:00:11 AM
First off, I'm a UofL fan and WKU is now my number two team. What friggin' awesome play and coaching. Sorry you did not win because you were incredible.

2005-03-27 12:01:19 AM
Ah, I love n00bs. They write sarcasm (by the way, I do understand that most people aren't THAT stupid... I don't know, I think your whole rant about the huddle hinted at the fact that your post was in jest... it was juuuuuust a bit over the top), and when someone gives back a semi-sarcastic and snarky response, they throw Fark's most common insult out. Jolly good show! I should give you a cracker.

And please, if you're going to fark, learn HTML. It's not that difficult... and it could score you dates!

how's about that WCHA conference tournament, pt. 2?
2005-03-27 12:06:18 AM
was at the illinois game, cause im a huge illinois fan, and with 4 mins left and them down 15, plus az at the line, i left. figured id beat the traffic, and couldn't stand to see the season end that badly.

then they win. and i miss my chance to see the most improbable comeback in history, and my dream of seeing illinois cut down the nets.

2005-03-27 12:09:06 AM
I'll summarize tonight's action briefly:

I watched two games, and saw an equal number of collapses.
