Here's an incomplete list of state laws regarding spam. Unfortunately, few states are as progressive as Oregon.

"[...] it was Harold vs. Goliath, and we were rooting for Harold with the rock in his hand.

Only it wasn't a rock [...]"

heh, Harold has a surprise for Goliath
2002-03-21 05:09:27 PM
And people always trash the lawyers...
2002-03-21 05:10:13 PM

"It was just like David and Goliath, only this time David won."

Homer on the little guy.
2002-03-21 05:12:45 PM
Good for him... spammers must die.
2002-03-21 05:13:29 PM
This is very cool! Although, as a legally challenged Joe Citizen, I'd be kind of worried about slipping up in court and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. But it is small claims, so I would hope that they grant a bit more leeway in these sorts of things. Anyone know about that?

I just reply through an anonymous e-mailer with another spam address so the spammers just e-mail back to each other.
2002-03-21 05:15:50 PM

2002-03-21 05:16:08 PM
I could have cashed in big when that company didn't take me fof their list, argh the money!
2002-03-21 05:16:32 PM
I think they should charge 23 dollars only, that's a farkin rip off
2002-03-21 05:16:56 PM
I know at least in Washington the price that a spammer has to pay to a normal person is $500 for each email sent out, and $1000 to ISPs for each email sent out.
2002-03-21 05:17:00 PM
One problem kids. When you're surfing so many porns sites, how do you know which spam you didn't actually get as a result of your surfing. You would hate to go to court only to find out that you signed up for a WET TOYS STUFFING TEENS THAT SLEEP WITH THEIR SISTERS site, now wouldn't you? Just a little food for thought kids.
2002-03-21 05:20:44 PM
this guy rawks.

"It was just like David and Goliath, only this time David won."

Um. In the original story David won.

2002-03-21 05:21:31 PM
I read most of the comments here. I'll settle out of court for $9 per post. thank you

Nice use of Hero tag.

I got another of those "the royal family of Nigeria wants to invest their money" things today, get 2-3/week. WTF?

greenbacks and spam

Very clever.

Brad Pitt: How's that workin' out for you?
Ed Norton: What's that?
Brad Pitt: Bein' clever?

I would have settled the case in exchange for court cost, nominal damage, and the chance to give two executives from the offending company some wedgies. Then all would be right.

That's awesome, I'm glad he got restitution. Now, if we could only do something about those shiats who send stupid "guaranteed-to-make-you-appreciate-life" forwards. A funny picture is alright once in awhile (if its actually FUNNY) but I'm talking about those stupid poems and dumb stories about drunk driving and kids with diseases, et farking cetera. As if I'm gonna send that crap to "ten people."

Ack, there's nothing i hate more than forwards. (/end rant)
