whats stupid is that this article got posted.

If it's iceberg lettuce, then who cares. Iceberg lettuce has absolutely no nutritional value at all. I love all these goombahs who think their eating healthy by making a big salad of iceberg lettuce and drowning it in Creamy Bacon Ranch salad dressing. Jebus, you'd be better off eating a Big Mac.

I know Cormee. I've sent about 10 good links in the past few days and they post this tripe. They want us to get TOTAL FARK!

"Well at least the article write let us have a load of mildy amusing lettuce puns"

Lettuce not.
2002-03-19 08:19:19 AM
Cormee: you've got that right.

If these people don't like the price, don't buy it - and stop complaining while you're at it.
2002-03-19 08:24:45 AM
Damn the terrorists. I'm growing my own lettuce.

"The weather in California -- they've got freezes out there, and of course, lettuce is the most fragile of all the vegetables."

I thought that was Ronald Reagan?
2002-03-19 08:39:56 AM
"Williamson says it's the highest he's seen in 40 years."

So lettuce was over $3 a head in 1962? I figured it would be more like 10 cents.

But I am eating heathly, I have this small leaf of lettuce, a lot of bacon-bits, cheese, eggs, and croutons, I covered it with "fat-free" dressing. It is good. I also had chicken wings for dinner because Chicken is good for you.

Let us not forget-Honeymoon Salad-lettuce alone!

Well Thank you Drew, despite what these others say, i manage a restaurant here in Memphis and we have noticed a sharp in crease in salad mix prices in the last 3 weeks, even though your article here tells me i shouldnt have.

So this little article may have just saved me some $$$ when i go nuts on my bullshiat Sysco Salesman. Hell with the money ive saved, i could ummmmm idunno????
Host a Memphis TN FARK PARTY???? thats sounds maybe this one wasnt so insignificant after all then huh?
2002-03-19 08:58:11 AM

Frolixo and BoCoMoFo,
You 2 better watch what you say or they may send Cliche Kitty over your way to do a lil' exterminating.
2002-03-19 09:09:04 AM
SLAYERSWINE, ye gads, you are right! Thank you my friend.

Fark is doing a great job and the links during this past week have been more than excellent! Lettuce prices and big shoes are a million times more important than the current war raging in the Middle East and the threat of our administration to use nuclear weapons. Keep it up Fark, I'm sorry I strayed from the path!
It was BoCoMoFo's fault!
2002-03-19 09:12:14 AM
Who needs $3 lettuce when you can buy a 2 litre of pop & a bag of chips for the same price?????
2002-03-19 09:15:19 AM
BoCoMoFo: that would explain all the stupid Cosmiverse links.
2002-03-19 09:55:02 AM
This pretty much sums up how I feel about this article...

My thoughts about it - nsfwish

I knew this would happen. What with Bush and Cheney getting rich off the big lettuce lobby. You all thought it was oil, but I knew the whole time it was lettuce. You stupid, stupid people.

Well my B-Day is coming up so I think I'll treat myself to 3 months of TOTALFARK and see how much more addicted I can become...

Once something gets fashionably pricy, Lisbon turns it into fashion, hence the prices go even higher.

That is all.

Man I posted this article a week or two ago when Taco Bell was having problems with the tomato producers.
2002-03-19 12:16:31 PM
Who the fark in their right mind eats iceberg lettuce? There is next to nothing in the way of nutritional value. In fact, iceberg is a hybrid lettuce that was invented to make it heavy so that they could charge a lot for it. They succeeded, and now everyone goes apeshiat about their "crisp iceberg lettuce". Am I the only one who thinks iceberg is overrated? Give me spinach or basil any day of the week and I'll be a happy camper.

-he who stacks pork

2002-03-19 01:06:21 PM
It's all Taco Bell's fault. Let's march on their headquarters!
2002-03-19 04:41:38 PM

What in the blue hell....give me a break, all I can say
"biatch Please who needs lettuce,go have some slim fast.."
2002-03-19 09:32:07 PM
Gido: Lettuce is much better for you. My wife had "digestive difficulties" and the Dr. told her to lay off the Slim Fast. She said it had too many preservatives and to much fiber.
Glad to see the farmers finally making some money, they deserve it.
