This hiats home.

I used read books to my kids and tucked them into bed at night. I'd check on them later at night.  Later in life I met a woman that used to sneak out at night from 11 years old. By 13 she said she had been with 50 grown men. Her parents used to close their bedroom door or something, but they were home and she'd come home before they woke up. Her father was a pastor, too! I didn't believe her and she said to me "You don't know where your kids are at 12am!" and I remembered this commercial and told her, "yes, yes I do. I watch them go to sleep because I read to them".

I'll never forget the look on her face when she said "I wish someone read to me at night".

Spend time with your kids, folks. It's more important than you can ever imagine.

we get an email every Friday with all the thank you letters and tweets and emails etc that ppl have sent to the hospital.  they're mostly from pts, but not always.

really nice one this week from the manager at the nearby railway station- about a nurse on her way home who came to the aid of a girl with learning difficulties who collapsed in the booking hall.

she was apparently amazing, even though on her way home after a long shift- took charge, handled the situation, summoned help and waited with her etc.

obviously very kind thing for her to do, but also really kind of the station manager to make the effort to write in.

it makes me happy every week, this email  : )

When I lived in Houston three old guys used to meet up at the Whataburger at 45 and N Main for a nice meal and to catch up once a week.

Then they'd take turns going into the bathroom for a $5 beejer from a hooker.

If you're on 20, just stay on 20 and keep going.  Unless you want to go through the woods to get there.  I30 is best route, that is if you can make it across the lake out by Rockwall. I mean for the life of me, doesn't matter what time of day is it is, there is always a backup on 30 going across that bridge.

Dan's will always slap Whataburger down like the greasy little biatch that it is.

There's this cultural delusion in Texas that because Whataburger was started in Corpus Christi, it therefore must be the greatest burger of all time. It isn't.

In n Out makes a better burger, for example, that tastes cleaner. One of the things I dislike about Whatburger is how greasy their burgers are. A good burger shouldn't be dripping grease. Moist and flavorful, yes. A suitable emergency replacement for lubing axles, no. Don't even get me started on the barely cooked, limp "fries" that Whatburger sells.

Considering In & Out makes their own fries on site and doesn't cook them twice or even leach off starch.  You fail.

Whataburger is what hamburger is. Period.
Macdonalds was originally cheap 🍔.  So no. They was never good. And got gross and salty over time.
Wake the fark up people.  A 🍔 is Whataburger or at least Wendy's.  Everyone else doesn't even understand what in the actual fark a burger is. shiat. Most places are lame versions of the top places. Or expensive versions of them. End of the story.

Yes, you're right. However....It is not a cure-all. Mrs. RoboZombie and I both read to our kids. When the older on hit about 14, the shiat hit the fan. Got into drugs, hanging with bad people, skipping school, etc.,etc.  I don't know what happened but the older one eventually came around and quit all that.

I'm gonna agree and disagree with everybody here and say that Whataburger is usually good, but are wildly inconsistent depending on where you are in Texas. For example, one I ate at in Dallas was one of the best fast food burgers i've ever had. I also ate one in Corpus Christi that was genuinely rancid. Usually, it's pretty good, but just like Texas itself, your experience will vary greatly.

This. Whataburger is less consistent than McDonald's. On the other hand, its way more consistent than Dairy Queen. A DQ is a total crapshoot. A literal one if you're unlucky.

I'll never understand the appeal of In-N-Out.

They have exactly one great quality: They're cheap. So I guess in the dirt cheap fast food burger category (e.g., McDonalds, White Castle), In-n-out takes top place. But there is absolutely nothing special or unique about their food. I've eaten at four or five of their locations and it's always the same, just a totally average, boring fast food burger.

Every one of the "not-dirt-cheap" fast food burger places has better burgers than in-n-out; Wendy's, Smashburger, Sonic, Culvers, Five Guys, Whataburger, etc. They're all better.

There's something to be said for keeping a simple, streamlined menu. I'll give them that. But as far as burger quality, it's right in the middle of the pack and altogether unremarkable. You can't fool me into thinking your bun isn't stale just because you toasted it.

I'm not really much of a "Texas bear" to poke. I live here, but I'm not from here and have no built-in Texas loyalties. I'll also confess that I'm a little peeved at Whataburger since they took the A1 Thick & Hearty burger off the menu. Those bastards.

I love Whataburger.  It is clearly superior to other fast food burgers, especially in-n-out.  I'm pretty sure in-n-out is just a description of the expected performance of the product.  Anyway, to each their own, but I like whataburger.  I have it about every other year or so.
