Oh that's not good. Even if he comes out swinging following his release, Republicans will still push their awful version of "don't you think he looks tired" every chance they get.

If Mehmet wasn't a moron, he could have deftly turned this yinzer's health into a winning issue.

Don't worry, George Santos will step in to fill the office as laid out in the 83rd Amendment, which he wrote.

Feeling lightheaded with no other symptoms sounds more like an afib with rapid ventricular response or just suddenly going into afib from a normal rhythm than a stroke. I wonder if he has an ICD.

When have they ever stopped.

And you just KNOW that "Dr" Oz is just waiting like a vulture, hoping this may be his big chance to make another go at the seat next election cycle.

Not good for the big man. This does not bode well and I wish him all the best.

You give this state too much credit. Everything else equal, if he was from PA and not NJ he'd have won.

Oz will lose interest--unless he made a ton of money from the campaign. Which is certainly possible.

I just hope Democrats can get some kind of control over the narrative before Republicans shiat all over it. Because the next option might be genuinely worse than Oz.

Yikes, not the news we need now. If he were to pass suddenly who would step in as the deputy or acting PA senator? Eric Stern?

Well that sucks 😕

Dear PA governor,

Please pick me as the fill in replacement for the senate.  I feel I'm qualified as I can tell my left from my right.  I don't live in PA but near it and that apparently counts.

Nobody until the governor appoints a replacement.

But this early in the term they'd probably have to hold a special election, right?  That sounds awful, even though PA seems to be on the right track politically.

the state GOP will never let Oz run for anything including dog catcher in Pennsylvania again. they know that was a winnable seat for them and Oz ran possibly the worst campaign possible. in the primary he beat Dave McCormick by about a 1000 votes only because of name recognition and they believe it McCormick had won the primary he would have beaten Fetterman.

McCormick has already made moves to take on Bob Casey next year for his seat. but I hope Senator Fetterman (I love saying that) is going to be okay. we need him

Fortunately PA is not one of those states, so if someone gets appointed they serve until the next regularly scheduled general election (to wit 2024).

I'm sure he'll be fine. He has "that good in-surance", now.

But even if Republicans are boorish enough to try to make an issue of his health, so what? He's there for 6 years! And if had to resign over health issues, the Democratic governor of PA will surely appoint a sane Democratic candidate as Fetterman's replacement.

The 17th Amendment allows for the governor of a state to appoint a replacement to temporarily fill the seat right away (if state laws don't prohibit such action), but also requires a special election be held to formally replace the departed senator. It doesn't specify how quickly that election should take place, but presumably it would be no later than the next regularly-scheduled statewide election day assuming primaries and filing windows could be fit in.

Lamb was the runner-up for the D's primary, so he is the likely replacement. That said, and while I'm glad he won his formerly red district, I find him far too conservative for my liking.

Or it's a mild case of vertigo. Which may be caused by an inner ear infection.

There are multiple possibilities for his light headedness that have nothing to do with a stroke.

\Wish him a speedy recovery.

The Eagles are playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday.  If they win, you'll hear good news for a week.

Unless you're a Steelers fan, in which case it won't be good news.  It was great when they won five years ago, since they'd never gotten a Lombardi, and they beat the asshole with a journeyman backup under center and in the WR slot.  But if they win on Sunday, they'll be insufferable.

Awesome.  I should have known this, but it hasn't really happened here in quite a while.

At least Mastriano won't be picking his replacement.

No, not at all.

Yes, Lamb was the runner up. He came in second with a whopping 26% of the vote, so he is obviously not the choice of the state party.

My vote is on his wife who is his chief adviser and apparently almost as good as he is.

Other points in Mrs Fetterman's favor:

She is an activist interested in public policy
She has been involved with her husband's previous administrations
She is a woman
She is an immigrant
She is only 40, and would be the second-youngest Senator after Ossoff

If you can't have John Fetterman in the Senate, then Gisele Barreto Fetterman is the next best thing.

Source on this? I'm not saying she can't be, but those are some big shoes to fill in terms of political communication.

Yikes. I hope he's okay. But if he's not, comatose Fetterman is as reasonable a Senator as senile Feinstein.
