We survived the Michael Eisner straight to VHS portion of Disney and now in straight to Disney Plus and it's costing you a fortune territory.  I blame John Lasseter's unwanted hugs.

Yes, as a father of young girls I despise Frozen 2.  I've had to watch it a dozen or so times.  It's really farking stupid.  The plot makes absolutely no sense, even for a Disney movie.

Without reading the link, I'd guess that at least unofficially (and possibly officially), it was in development before F2 was in theaters.

Rivendale or whatever is going to be invaded by the fire nation, but not THAT fire nation because the Smurf Fern Gully movie is already ripping that off in their third installment (seriously). Then Aladdin and some random kid with a key with show up and join forces with Elsa to save the day. The Kingdom Hearts cinematic universe is born and has a ten year arc. Then they wait five years and do it again with live action and they change all the music just enough to be extra annoying. They will completely ignore the new live action stuff in their merchandising.

they find out Elsa has magic for a reason and their great grandfather was a monster, like all European monarchs. And people got trapped in a time dilation fog. I will give the Boobieser it is disjointed but it really isn't hard to follow.  If Disney kid movies plots don't make sense, I am sorry, it is a you problem.

This thing calls out to Elsa, but gets all angry when she shows up. So it freezes her, and Anna needs to free her bc we forgot to have Anna do anything useful in this. And Sven, we have no idea what to do with Sven other than have him create painfully contrived drama.

Best part of F2 was the moose/Queen style music video. At least that's the only part I can remember.

Kind of like the Transformers franchise.  It makes you wonder how something so terrible gets a sequel, much less people who actually watch it.

It all traces back to a dam that was built under false pretenses by the evil King of Arendale to take away resources from Northuldra by giving them a reservoir of fresh water and reducingthe flow of water to Arendale.  So to right the wrong, we have to destroy the dam and Arendale, the city I'm the Princess of, along with it. to bring peace among this group of people that nobody knew about until they went up to the frozen north.

To effect this plan, we have to get the rock monster to destroy the dam.  But not to worry, because my sister will ride into the rescue and freeze the water (which will in no way result in another dam).  I'll then be named Queen of the city I decided to destroy.

It is no "How to Train Your Dragon" though. That trilogy was WAAAAAAY better then it had any right to be.

You're making a joke (I assume), but I've said that a shared Disney animated universe would probably make a zillion dollars. In that way it's sort of weird they haven't decided to go forward with it, and also sort of wasted it for a one-off joke in a Wreck It Ralph movie

I mean, I don't know if I want it, persay. Though obviously i'd probably end up watching them. I'm just surprised that such an obvious money-making idea is being ignored. And the show you mention is kind of proof that it would work since it was a pretty big hit

It did okay in the ratings, but surprisingly didn't generate a big merchandise line. Typically Disney doesn't fail to exploit any property for secondary profits.

The show was a hot mess of narrative contrivances and inconsistencies. I gave it an honest go, survived a few seasons, but finally gave up once it became clear there was no actual end game and it was just the writers making it up as they went. I gave up around the time they were shoehorning Frozen into the lore.

pfff, that scene was the best part of the movie....    and it wasnt one off, they showed up at the end for a little....

agree with most...  frozen 2 was a mess.
I probably seen that once.  no one in the fam had a desire to watch it again.  and I have a daughter.   and she made us watch frozen more times than I remember.   had to download a handi-cam version of it to get by until the blue ray came out.
but at least that was a solid movie, good songs, good score...  oh well.  I guess we'll watch this at least once.

Disney + has a docuseries on the making of Frozen 2. It's interesting to see how they made the story decisions they did, like Show Yourself almost not happening, the creation of the Lost in the Woods sequence, who the voice would turn out to be and how Arendelle was almost destroyed, then saved. Watching it makes the movie make a lot more sense. Even though Elsa drives the whole story, it's always been about Anna.
