Maybe it's a thought experiment, but there's no reason why he couldn't have done it.

Magaluf isn't high season right now. Though normally I'd think its more like 150USD for 7 days, including hotel, and half pension (two meals per day).

If you started in New York, that Pizza would have a 1,049 lbs carbon footprint.

While it is useful to be mindful, never forget that the idea of a "personal carbon footprint" was created by British Petroleum to shift responsibility from the oil industry in the same way that consumer recycling was.

American biscuits are baked and very similar to traditional British scones.

I kinda doubt it, the flight was already going and was 90% full, my added mass with a day bag didn't add significantly to the fuel burn, at a guess I'd say driving to the airport probably added as much net carbon output as me being on the flight =)

Sure.  Thats basically the difference. Biscuits are more or less scones (smidge) without sugar. So they can go with savory food.  Or you can add jam/jelly/honey and go sweet if you like. They fill the same area as say, Irish soda bread.

Biscuit making:

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup cold butter, cubed
2/3 cup 2% milk

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450°. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk; stir just until moistened.
Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8-10 times. Pat dough to 1/2-in. thickness. Cut with a 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter.
Place 1 in. apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, 10-15 minutes. Serve warm.

Or:
Get a box of Bisquick and follow the directions on the box.

Not a scone.

His massive brekkie included two sausages, two rashes of bacon, beans, chips, mushrooms, tomatoes, two hash browns and a coffee.

I don't see any bacon.  That looks like it could be Canadian bacon, but I am not certain.  And why are they described as "two rashes"?   Also, the beans and 'chips' look awful.  Who eats chips for brekkie?

The rash browns don't look too great either.

I've had rashes in the past, but never 2 at the same time.

It doesn't strike me as impossible. I'm flying to Portugal in a couple of weeks with my wife for £35 for both tickets, including taxes. We didn't look for a deal or spend time hunting bargains, we just wanted to go somewhere warmer. Sometimes you see £1 flights if you are willing to get up early to get on the first flight of the day to somewhere.

The only thing about his story I find odd is that he went to Magaluf. If he wanted a cheaper breakfast he could have gone somewhere near the airport, like Palma.

Biscuits and sausage gravy looks like such an amazingly English dish that I'm absolutely gobsmacked that it's not a necessary part of a British breakfast.
