Yeah, Toy Story is so old and busted.  Kids today won't give a shiat about it, and the rest of us have grown up.

I really like the idea of Zootopia 2, so I am definitely down with that one, but hard pass on the other two.

Toy Story should have ended with part 3.

Frozen 2 was a cash grab with mediocre songs. (Well, one good one, but that was a parody of 80s music videos that felt completely out of place with the rest of the story.)

There is nowhere the Toy Story franchise can go after the haunted house, really. And that was really pushing it.

The Brave Little Toaster is better than all of the Toy Stories combined. As for Zootopia, are they going to not be cops in the new one? Maybe the force is replaced by pig cops and the heroes have to stop them?

I mean yes, Toy Story 4 was good, but the ending of 3 was THE perfect ending to any franchise, to the point that 4 definitely felt unneeded, even if it closed up Bo Peep's storyline.  A fifth film is just going to ruin it.  To put it bluntly, I'd rather see a Lightyear sequel.

Let.  It.  Go.

Toy Story has already done the complete cycle of a toy's life.  When Andy grew old enough to pass the toys on to a new owner, that's where it should have ended.  The fourth movie was pointless.  The fifth... well come on, we all knew once Disney got involved Pixar IP would be milked until the cow was skin and bones.  The really amazing thing is that it's taking so long.

Please let Chris Evans do the voice of Buzz.  Not because I'll ever watch it, but just to see them burn Tim Dick again.

Disney might, for no other reason than they could release a new talking 'Original' Buzz toy in their stores.

Completely agree that Toy Story 3 was the perfect end to the franchise and any and all sequels thereafter are unnecessary and stupid.

No, you come up with catchphrases for continuing sagas; Dumber & Dumberer, Naked Gun 33 1/3, Toy Story: Trash Day, and Toy Story: 5&10 (broken toys half off)

I mean, the setting's nice, there's nothing there that calls for an actual direct sequel, though.  The characters were pretty one-note, intentionally, and all got the one thing they wanted at the end of the movie, leaving nowhere for them to go unless you arbitrarily re-wrote them to be entirely different characters who just happened to look identical in the sequel, direct-to-video '90s trash sequel style.

Maybe if it was a franchise more in the vein of 'another story in the same setting with entirely different characters'?  Could be decent, but Disney's unlikely to go for that since familiar images are the key to their toy commercials masquerading as movies.  Gotta have Elsa in the unrelated movie that has nothing to do with Frozen so kids will be hooked in and demand the other dolls now required to play with their Elsa doll, etc.

So you're saying you want Toy Story 5 to introduce an Elsa doll who has wacky adventures with Buzz and Woody? Because Disney's marketing wing is pretty sure that's what you said you wanted. And the Elsa doll should look more like a cute Funko Pop meets anime design so there's a whole new type of toy to sell, right? They're certain they heard that too.

The only thing that makes less sense than Toy Story 5 would be WALL-E 2.

Also I too would love to see a Zootopia sequel, but that could be potentially problematic in many ways.

WALL-E 2 is easily doable. The humans fail to grow proper pizza trees, so they send Eve, WALL-E, and a crew of misfits to find a planet where they will grow. Hijinks ensue, the land of pizza trees is found, and everyone learns an important lesson about blah blah blah.

They could go all Matrix 4 on it, have them dream that they are toys, and wake up to discover that they are other toys, or whatever it would have to be as I only made it through 20 minutes of Matrix 4, which completely ruined The Matrix for me. Or have the toys discover a box of Toy Story DVDs (though that is sort of what Buzz Lightyear's story arc is anyway)

You do realize "Let it go" means "fark the haters.  Do what you want, unleash the beast, and let your freak flag fly", right?

It really baffles me that people can listen to the song, watch what is happening on screen, and think it means giving up/moving on.

Frozen 1 was full of mediocre songs. Actually the same song tweaked just enough to not technically be the exact same song. Ugh. Only made it through 20 minutes of that one. The only thing worse was the videotape of my nieces high school performance of High School Musical, because I was sort of socially forced to sit through the whole thing. And none of them had any talent whatsoever.

1. Yes to Zootopia 2 - I think it's still a solid world worth revisiting, and they only scratched the surface of things they could say.

2. Toy Story 4 was beyond unnecessary, although I could always use some more "Forky Asks A Question."

3. I'm not as with you on this one. I thought the songs were pretty fantastic (save for "The Next Right Thing"), even if there wasn't a hit single among them. I think it did make the story richer, and I thought it was a bold move to make their ancestors the bad guys. It was a little shoehorned in, but they ultimately did a good job of extending the mythology. The only problem is that they ventured further away from it being a kids movie. It got darrrrk. I'm not upset by this, but man was it bleak at times.

My wife is a Disney fanatic, so I kind of got sucked in, though of course I watched Disney movies growing up in the 80s.  Am I the only one who liked Frozen 2 more than the first one?  The sequence where Elsa crosses the water, with the waves crashing, is some of my favorite animation of the past few years.

I'm also totally on board for a Zootopia sequel and there's a ton of stuff they could do for that.  I told my wife they really should have done a Zootopia TV show, where Judy and Nick solve a different case each week.  With a weekly show, you could delve more into the different areas of the city and I'm sure the writers could come up with some creative crimes for them to solve.  A movie will need a bigger story, but I think it's doable.

I wish they'd stopped Toy story after 3.  That wrapped everything up perfectly.

I think Encanto is the best thing Disney has done in decades and I'd love to see more of that world, but that's one that doesn't lend itself well to a sequel, in my opinion.  I could see maybe sending Mirabel off on a quest of some kind, but what makes that movie so special is the interactions between all of the characters, so removing her from that sort of defeats the purpose.  Some kind of crisis that would affect everyone might feel like too much of a rehash of the original film.  Maybe they'd just be better off leaving that one alone.
