I lived in Perth in 1965-66.  There was a burger place a little north called Surf Burgers, run by an American.  He liked to chat with us at length when we came in.  Excellent burgers!   Thanks for the flashback, Subby!

i've never had white castle but hungry jack's is just Burger King, they couldn't get the trademark in australia.

Yeah, if anything "brother" would be closer fit to "lads", particularly in parts of America that have a strong union presence.

Burger King lost a trademark suit in some rural town like Indiana and they used the Hungry Jacks name there for a while.  Hungry Jacks is sort of like a Burger King from the mid 1980s. They aren't doing well these days.

I was about to say something (lofty and pretentious no doubt) about alliteration and assonance, in the sure and certain knowledge that assonance was the equivalent of alliteration... but vowels.
my phone didn't seem very confident about assonance, and I don't trust myself, so consulted the internets re spelling.  ... and apparently it means something different to what I thought!

alliteration (I thoughted)- repetition of initial consonant for literary effect, eg stuttering rifles' rapid rattle.

assonance- same but vowels or sibillants, eg with swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim.

but apparently assonance is repetition of any syllables, particularly of stressed vowels.

does that mean alliteration also applies to any syllable?

it's not a big thing, but it's a thing I've been wrong about.
