Bobby is never truly gone.  The fun killing spirit he represents lingers no matter what changes.

Any game that must be played on a schedule isn't worth the trouble

Represents? Let's just all admit he's Kodos in a skin suit, Pazuzu, or at the very least Howard Hughes' time-traveling ghost in the body of whatever Bill Paxton was in Weird Science.

Yeah, even if they did keep the games on all systems, something tells me that future games would be optimized for the X box.  Good for the UK.

Ok, but it's Britain, so just tell them to fark off and make up that market share literally anywhere else in the world. And if they protest, tell them they should have thought about being a useless has-been no one gives a fark about before they decided to Brexit.

Actually what made me finally stop playing WoW after 12 years or so, was that the game forced me to tend to my virtual garden every day.

And whenever I did so my God like warlock would get attacked by farking rabbits, interrupting my gardening.

At that point I was paying a monthly fee to do chores.

These huge buyouts do nothing for the consumer. Inevitably they continue to drive down the quality of whatever buyout occurs and ultimately the consumers suffer. Why do we allow this? Farking capitalism.

I've gone full socialist in my old age. Fark capitalism. These companies need to be employee owned and one company buying another company, should be strictly regulated.

There must be some reason Microsoft/Activision feels that the UK can block the merger.

If the US and the EU accepts it, can Microsoft/Activision just ignore the UK without any particular consequences?

Diablo Immortal is awesome, and it's great they have a legal obligation to their shareholders to milk it as much as possible.

If Linux didn't exist, I wonder about what subscription model Windows would be using. Something like Office perhaps (people pay for Office when Libre Office etc. is free..)

I suppose that they could shut up shop in the UK. That would mean walking away from a market worth billions of pounds a year. It could also affect their working relationships with one of the biggest games industries in the world. I don't think their shareholders would be very pleased at that.

But that's the only reason? That would give Brazil, Japan etc. a similar leverage, yet I could only find the US and the EU as other parties that needs to accept the merger.

That's all that I'm aware of. To do business in any country you have to abide by that country's laws.

I think that the UK may be of particular interest simply because of the size of the British games industry. It's the biggest in the world after Japan and the US. The single most lucrative media product in history is a British video game, Grand Theft Auto V. The UK government is bound to take more of an interest in the business than most others, while other governments will be keeping an eye on how the UK manages the industry.

A merger this big would need to be approved in at least a dozen jurisdictions. In many of them you file your paperwork and never hear from them again, but in the big ones such as the US and the EU, and to a lesser extent the UK, it's an extremely detailed, paperwork-intensive and expensive process involving lawyers, economists, and the time of business execs. I managed the process of marshalling many deals like this through the process and it's almost a 24 hour a day job.

Bobby needs to go and the only way you're going to do that is to get rid of his ownership stake. He's got his hooks in the company in too many ways for it to be able to happen while ActiBliz remains independent.

The problem is that Microsoft buying it is probably as equally a bad deal. If you thought that ActiBliz was responsible for fun killing, wait until it is part of the corporate behemoth that is Microsoft.
