I wish I could be 1% of that guy right there.

He's a legend in many, man ways.

I think he's the greatest, but my dad says he never worked hard enough on defense. And he says that lots of times, he didn't even run down court. And that he didn't really try... except during the playoffs.

The hell he doesn't! LISTEN, KID! He's been hearing that crap ever since he was at UCLA. He's out there busting his buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!

Well, it's harder to drag Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes NOW.  Especially if you don't have a shovel.

Do you like movies about gladiators?

Mikaela Shiffrin:
"Ingemar. Maybe I can surpass him in numbers, but I can't surpass his legacy," Shiffrin told double Olympic gold medallist Tina Maze in an interview with Eurosport.
...
"But there are too many amazing stories in ski racing over the years, like your record-breaking season is still something that inspires me to be tougher when I feel tired," Shiffrin added, referring to Maze's record-breaking 2013 season.

Ingemar Stenmark (whose record (of 86 wins) she is about to break):
"I think that Shiffrin will win more than 100," Stenmark told Olympics.com earlier this season, "and it doesn't make me sad at all."

Agree 100% and smarted, but I can't read all that. Now if Bill Walton comes out with a statement on Lebron, I'll absolutely pay attention to that. While eating popcorn.

It's a damn shame they never played at UCLA during the same time....the stories would have been legendary.

I was so scared, saw Glass Onion, and Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) had a zoom meeting w/ Kareem, Natasha Lyonne, Angela Lansbury and Steven Sondheim. It was the last thing those two ever filmed.

Agree with the sentiments above. And I love that he did Airplane! so he could buy a rug.

He's always been his own person, and that's probably why he could be that famous and still sane.

Yeah, but he lays it on pretty thick near the end bringing back older articles he wrote about Lebron where he had the nerve to say Lebron is MODEST.

Part of being a hero is to have both the modesty to feel unworthy of such a heavy word and the strength to accept the responsibility that comes with others looking to you to be that hero

Lebron is not modest in the least. He's always framing things as he's the best, his work helped his teammate succeed, etc.

Other than that...I'm glad Kareem went into writing. It's cool to hear a man so eloquent in tying the past with the present and the present with the future.

Kareem and LeBron know this:

"Cause, ya see, twice, Sarah... once at Ames with Minnesota Fats and then again at Arthur's, in that cheap, crummy pool room, now why'd I do it, Sarah? Why'd I do it? I coulda beat that guy, coulda beat 'im cold, he never woulda known. But I just hadda show 'im. Just hadda show those creeps and those punks what the game is like when it's great, when it's REALLY great. You know, like anything can be great, anything can be great. I don't care, BRICKLAYING can be great, if a guy knows. If he knows what he's doing and why and if he can make it come off. When I'm goin', I mean, when I'm REALLY goin' I feel like a... like a jockey must feel. He's sittin' on his horse, he's got all that speed and that power underneath him... he's comin' into the stretch, the pressure's on 'im, and he KNOWS... just feels... when to let it go and how much. Cause he's got everything workin' for 'im: timing, touch. It's a great feeling, boy, it's a real great feeling when you're right and you KNOW you're right. It's like all of a sudden I got oil in my arm. The pool cue's part of me. You know, it's uh - pool cue, it's got nerves in it. It's a piece of wood, it's got nerves in it. Feel the roll of those balls, you don't have to look, you just KNOW. You make shots that nobody's ever made before. I can play that game the way... NOBODY'S ever played it before."

God bless them all.

Kareem had one 3 point score in his career, LeBron had over 2000. Therefore Kareem is still the leading scorer and LeBron as a big *
next to his record.
