Sounds like and equal-protection lawsuit.

I would once again like to extend a generously hearty "f*ck you" to Justices Roberts, Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas, and Alito  for their monumentally stupid decision in Shelby County v Holder.

I hope there's a hell  for the deceased to burn in and may the living join them swiftly.

The Mississippi House has approved the creation of a new court system within the capital of Jackson in which judges and prosecutors in the overwhelmingly Black city would be appointed by white state officials.Local residents elect judges and prosecutors in every other county court system in the state.

Huh.

"This bill is designed to make our capital city of Jackson, Mississippi, a safer place," said Lamar, who lives more than 170 miles away from Jackson.

Huh.

If approved by the state Senate and governor, the court system and its judges would preside over a so-called improvement district spanning Jackson's downtown and shopping and entertainment areas.

So, not the places where the supposedly enslaved black folks are actually living?  This is about as oppressive as DC having a separate police force to handle the federal buildings and tourist area around the Capital Mall.

Except instead of a police force ensuring the security of government locations, it's black people. So a different thing entirely in every sense.

Conservatives have never been in favor of "local control," merely in favor of the discrete power of states. And it's always been for racist reasons.

You know what they say about Amy and the Choir Boys -- you can't go wrong with a 6-3 majority Catholic Supreme Court Bench.   I'm not sure a church in the 21st century really wants to be famous for that, but Mississippi is not only exploiting it, they'll be testing inch of the church moral fiber and counting on finding none.

Also, Manchin supported 2 of Trump's 3 Supreme Court appointments.

Time for Biden to finish the job Lincoln couldn't.  Total annihilation of confederates and the slavers.  He must declare war and unleash the military.  No holds barred.  Total war against slavery.  So surrender, no prisoners.

Lincoln gave them a second chance.  They declined the invitation into the civilization of light and love.

Alabama is just East Mississippi. It was originally going to be brought in as one state, but the slaveholders got to thinkin;, "Why should we settle for one new State and two new Senators when we can just split it down the middle and have two new States and four new Senators?"
upload.wikimedia.orgView Full Size

Conservatives would go on to do this a lot in the decades after the Civil War, such as with the Dakota Territory (split horizontally instead of vertically) and much of the rest of the Rocky Mountain States. Keep that in mind whenever anyone tells you that the only reason Democrats want Statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico is because they just want more Senators.

Yes.

Then you're not very bright.  You might as well be blaming Biden for this since the last election for the state legislature was in 2020 for all the relevance it has.
