It was inevitable. I knew old Italian mamas who'd travel from Queens and Brooklyn to pick up cheese (including the non-pasteurized stuff) at Alleva's. Now, almost every neighborhood has an artisan cheese shop with their own goats and cows stashed somewhere in Westchester or further upstate.

I lived here down the street from the Antonelli's. Previously, that was a fantastic cafe called Dolce Vita. They specialized in cocktails and gelato. It was a fantastic first date spot, and I'm very happy that the new owners have had tremendous success in what was one of my spots in Austin.
