A deluxe edition released last year includes a cover of David Bowie's "Five Years."

I need to find that. It's my favorite song on "Ziggy Stardust."

Huh......intrigued by the Vegas date.  I'm a casual fan, and have never seen them.  I was very, very impressed with them on the RnR HOF ceremony a few months ago.  I said the wife, "man, Simon LeBon's voice has not changed!"  He sounded great and the band as well.

Dude's voice definitely still great over 40 years later.  Damn impressive indeed

And I have to say:

Duran Duran was the first concert I ever saw. I was 12 or so right after their 1993 album came out. I listed the hell out of side one of that cassette tape, and it was one of the first albums I ever bought: Too Much Information, Ordinary World, and Come Undone, among other songs.

I liked most of their stuff back in the day and still do. What bothers me is that the members still try to keep the same "look" (style) and it's just not working.

They must be hungry for the money.

Of course they are.

I mean, have you SEEN what tickets sell for these days?

There's a reason that practically every act is constantly touring these days. The money is HUGE.  Way more than it's ever been.

ooooh, that's great to hear.  I think I might have to get tix for this tour if they're still bringing it.

They are surprisingly good live and if your date is the right age a guaranteed panty dropper. If you must see a nostalgia act they are a good bet.

I swear I've seen this headline in years past, but I still still chuckle chuckle.

I just saw them at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles a couple months ago, in the pouring rain, and they were great. I *hate* their version of White Lines, and even that was good live.

yeah check that link brotherman posted above, re 2022 ACL.  Tell me Simon's voice has changed.

ha.  weife, who's seen Michael Buble like, 4 times, each time gushing, "OMG you would totally love him, I have to take you sometime!"  I finally went a few months ago.  He was fantastic, truly.  I'd go again.  Incredible performer.

Anyways, to your point, towards the end of the show he goes, "alright, how many of you, is this the first time seeing me?  how many of you are here because your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, partner, whatever, has been begging you to come?"  (thousands of cheers, me included.)

"Well.......tonight, all of you first timers, I'm pretty damn sure you're gonna get, uh, 'rewarrrrrrrrrded' tonight.  I may be putting air in the tires of love, but, you got to ride that bike home, if you catch my drift.  Fellas, ladies, SOs, all you first timers....when you're making sweet sweet love tonight, just say, 'thank you, Mikey!'

bet your ass i got 'rewarded' that night.  Thanks, Mikey!

I saw them in 2017, at the Fox Theater in Oakland. It was a smallish venue so that was awesome. The show was so good.

I saw them in '98.  They were still pretty solid.  All the early hits held up well, but they didn't play Friends of Mine to my chagrin.  Ordinary World blew me away though.  Good show.  Would see again.

While I love Duran Duran, they tend to fail miserably at covers.

Though, their cover of Fame isn't horrible.

That said, DD puts on a hell of a show, and their three most recent albums are excellent.

I'd like to see a show where they perform the entire Rio album as a set.

Awesome live album, but I remember that on my cassette on some of the tracks, the vocals were too loud and the bass guitar was buried in the mix.  I'm sure it's been remastered by now, though.

If you can still do it, do it. They still sound (and look) very good. Unlike some others...

Can't knock 'em for being old or fat.  Time happens.  It's the voice and the performance mojo that truly matter.

John Taylor is a hell of a bass player, and a worthy recipient of the late Bernard Edward's stingray.

Saw them a while back at the Washington State Fair with Chic and Nile Rogers opening for them. Way better than expected and would highly recommend. Seeing Nile come out to play a few songs with Duran Duran was amazing.

That's why I picked these three. No they do not look good, but none of them can sing at all anymore.

First song I ever heard played through a Sony Walkman (still remember orange foam) was Planet Earth by Duran Duran.

Wish I knew the name of the kid that split the headset on the bus on the way to school so I could listen in, because I'd buy him a beer.

/so old
