Democrats win
Republicans lose
America wins

When you stand for nothing but chaos and atavism, you cannot accomplish anything.

Somehow this reminds me of all those articles the other day of the Taliban finding governing boring and missing the exciting days of Jihad.

I find it difficult to believe that the idiot Republicans begrudgingly chose to lead them has made a series of strategic blunders that will allow the Democrats to either get what they want, or steamroll them in messaging. There is no way that this could have been foreseen.

W was riding high in the polls until he proposed messing with Social Security (it may have been Medicare.  Dogpile me if you want, that's my kink).  After that, his approval ratings slowly started to drop and they never really recovered.

Well one of the things.  He wanted to privatize Social Security in 2005.  His polling was already in decline as the public gradually soured on the Iraq occupation.

The top 5% has converted a critical mass of people into biological robots powered by their tax-siphoning Voltron so by the time anyone bright enough could get around to figuring this out and do something, the people were too divided by social politics and massive educational deficiencies to trust each other enough to stop it.

I think Paulie Bagels has forgotten how Republicans successfully campaigned against Bill Clinton in 2000 (not a typo) because "honor to the office" and Al Gore inventing the internet.

Their ability to spin bullshiat into electoral votes cares not a whit for reality.

// Hunter Biden's laptop and (if it happens) impeaching Mayorkas is probably worth 3-5% in poll numbers

CSB: My father is a lawyer and was the town judge for awhile. We had "the talk" several times. He wanted to make sure us four kids knew how to deal with cops. Which in subsiquent years has helped me a lot-especially in Philly and very recently here in central Pennsyltennarkatucky. I am a farkette and not a person of color and not at all prone to be remotely inclined to be such a jerk as to have any kind of police intervention. Glad Biden referenced this. Everyone should have "the talk" with their kids, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, step-children, kids, teenagers.....

Of those, the only one that I think really gets traction is the Insulin one. The others -- free community college and child tax credit -- are just going to make Republicans say "oh noes teh socialism" while drooling on their laps. Even the Insulin issue only really works when you tell voters that it is patent free because the people who did the original work just wanted people to live.

I think the Republicans are faced with an even bigger crisis.  It gives them boners to take away things like Social Security from The Poors, and if mousetrapped into stopping that, their expenses for little blue pills is going to go WAY up instead.

How else are they supposed to rape people?  You can't be soft in the groinal area.

I suppose they'll up efforts to squash abortions in more states instead.  That gives them boners too.

Don't forget the Schiavo mess - I think a lot of people, once the saga entered its third week, realized that the farking US Congress getting involved in one family's heart-wrenching decisions surrounding end-of-life care for their loved one was probably overkill.

The fact that Dr Bill "I can make diagnoses over the internet based on 10 seconds of video, and this woman can still be a Rockette if we clap hard enough!" Frist and others ended up being so very, very incorrect about it (medically speaking) also didn't help.

He was riding high in the polls because of 9/11.

After that...

A return to the mean, wanting to privatize, Iraq war dragging on (plus you know, lying about why we went in there in the first place)... and then the final nail was him endorsing dreamer legislation... though if I recall that was pretty late in the presidency.

My loony right wing dad who always listened to Rush (and still listens to the other insaneos), I remember them ALWAYS defending Bush on everything, even if it went against what republicans normally stood for (ring a bell with Trump?)... but as soon as he endorsed that dreamer legislation, republican talkheads lost their goddamn minds and tore him to shreds.   The 'he's endorsing amnesty' refrain rang loud amongst the crazies.

Yep. Biden fed the GQP into a wood-chipper - feet-first so we could watch their expressions - and sprayed the resulting nutcase chunks all over the rest of the GOP.

Warmed my goddamned black heart, it did.

Ragin' Asian: McCarthy couldn't out-strategize a child at Chutes and Ladders.

Okay, I agree with your point, but Chutes and Ladders is like Candyland, there's literally no possibility of strategy, it's all luck.

McCarthy couldn't convincingly lose to a child at Chutes and Ladders even if he didn't cheat.

Marvel Graphic Novel, "Emperor Doom"

Doom captures Zebediah Killgrave (the Purple Man), wires him into a machine, and boosts Purple Man's power enough to blanket the entire planet - under Doom's total control, of course.

Doom takes over the world with not a shot fired.

After a few months to complete rule, we see Doom sitting at a desk, bored out of his skull, as a lackey drops a Humongous stack of paper on the desk.

"Your daily administrative tasks, my Lord."

Doom finally learned that 'A man's reach should exceed his grasp, or What's a heaven for?'

A little more of this, and Doom "accidentally" lets Kilgrave escape, and the world goes back to normal.

"The Talk" is one of the weird things about being the white adoptive parent of a couple of Black boys.  It's certainly not something my parents ever had to have with me.

We've had the police one a lot more than the sex one with our kids

I believe his statement after the 2004 election was something like, "I earned political capital (from the election), and I plan to spend it." He toured the country talking up his plan, and it got less popular with every appearance he made. We also got "policy wonk" Paul Ryan's plan that would have added $70 trillion to the debt. How reporters couldn't see through him after that is a mystery.

/Its not a mystery. Reporters are often idiots.
