Are we trying to get Don Jr to immigrate to New Zealand?

Oh, thank god, they found my coke. I was looking everywhere for that. I better call them now and let them know.

No, no, no.  We are trying to get him to one of those independent pretend countries that libertarians try to build on old derricks.

100 million, that's a lot of coke.

He wouldn't be allowed in because there are good character requirements that we have to get a visa, and the National party aren't in power at the moment so he couldn't just buy citizenship like peter thiel did.

Wow, you're right, they sent the entire navy for this one haul and it doubles as a fishing boat when it's not in use.

Well, it's only 9 ships to cover an absolutely massive region of ocean, but they're doing their best. That's the HMNZS Manawanui.

I don't think I'd want to be on the drug seize squad either.

What would you do? Let's say you are on some smallish boat crossing the Pacific and you come across this thing. Do you report it to authorities? Do you tell no one and just sail on? Do you take one of the bags? All of the bags?

I think I might just sail the fark on and not tell a soul

Considering the long time use of radiocollar tracking and air drops of payloads to boats, that might not be a bad bet.

True fact: The main character in this movie was played by a drop bear to increase the realism.

Does New Zealand have cop math or do they use actual math?

In America, this supply would probably be like 2 personal sized baggies that fell out of some guys wallet.

They're part of ANZAC so although they might be small, they DO have world class toys.

They could shut down the Black Sea or something

CSB:

I used to live in Asheville. One night was walking my dogs downtown, cut through an alley at one point. The news the next day was talking about a backpack full of cocaine and cash, a few kilos and like 20  thousand dollars, being found in that alley. Apparently, my dogs were not good at sniffing out money or cocaine. Otherwise, I would be wealthier today.

End CSB

/I'm in Florida now. Was very near where 14 lb of cocaine were recently found after one of the big storms.
//Was not on that particular stretch of beach at any point.
///Really wish I had been. I've never done coke, but I understand that it can be exchanged for pretty good money.

Don't kid yourself.  Neither did Poland pre WWII.  You don't need one because you are a long, long way away and have Australia between you and the rest of the world.

At the risk of stating the mind blowingly obvious, cops can't do economics or marketing.

If that much cocaine hit NZ the price would go through the floor, so it would be worth nowhere near what they say.  And the market would expand such that it would last only a tiny fraction of 30 years.

Because the one thing that Australia needs is the sharks off the coast to get coked up.

born_yesterday: BTW, if you're into true crime and cocaine, Cocaine Cowboys is a documentary on Amazon that goes into the cocaine trade in 1980s Miami and is pretty good.

There are two versions (I dont have Amazon, so dont know which one is there). The first one was released maybe...12-14 years ago? Longer? Think the Aughts. Then they "flashed it up" and re-released years later, but excluded a lot of info/footage and included "commentary" from pop figures, as well as follow-on later interviews with the two main guys. I only know because I watched the original, and when I tried to show it to a friend years later (because it was a fascinating doc, as you said), the version I found online was not as good.

I may have "borrowed" a copy from the original DVD release in the Aughts that I found online on a pirate ship. THe one that was released on the web was not the same one.

Do you know which one is on Amazon?

There's Cocaine Cowboys on right now, which I am pretty sure is the original.

Amazon also had Cocaine Cowboys Reloaded, which might be what you saw. Similar but not identical interviews, and different editing (in CC, they assert through interviews that Griselda Blanco murdered a cartel family member, in CCR, they use the same interviews to assert that she plotted to kill the FL state senator).

Cocaine Cowboys 2 is interviews with some of the same subjects, but primarily follows one of Griselda's main distributors in CA. (Who foiled her plot to kidnap JFK for ransom; "I saw myself as the last line of defense in protecting JFK and my first line of defense in avoiding life in prison.").

If there's a fourth documentary, I wouldn't be surprised. The seem to have tons of interviews to edit.
