It will never make much sense to me that Cohen went to prison for something that was done at Trump's direction and for his benefit. The have recordings, signed checks, and direct witness testimony. Trump appeared all over Cohen's charging document until Barr interfered.

But, no, we can't possibly charge Trump.

I doubt you'll get a satisfying answer. I have people farkied who don't understand ANGH is a metaphor. They point to TrumpCo getting fined $1.6M as "something happening", and use it as proof Trump is being held accountable for his crimes, like it's a binary thing.  Yes, something happened, but everyone named Trump and all the ringleaders of all the awful shiat they did are walking around free men. If we can't agree on what "happen" means, we won't be able to agree on a timeline.

If anyone ever indicts him, there will be "riots in the streets" in the words of Lindsey Graham. He's probably right.

But isn't it sad that if nothing happens, nothing will happen? No riots, no protest. Prosecutors can just silently close cases and never say anything. (Like has probably happened with Matt Gaetz, although we don't know for sure because... they don't have to say anything.)

With the Special Counsel investigations, they have to tell us either way.

"Criminally indicted" is I think a popular definition of "something."  Some folks go to "criminally convicted and serving time."

No one but the Panglossians think "Fined couch cushion money" is "something."

Once upon a time I peddled smut for a living. Specifically, I worked at an adult video and toy store. At double minimum wage with free health insurance (with $5 co-pays and scripts) it was a great job at the start of my salad years. We would periodically host meet-and-greets with various AV stars and as the only woman on staff without a permanent scowl or case of the giggles, I was often tapped as liaison. It was comical how meek and deferential the men would be, waiting on queue patiently and speaking with the talent. Everyone was always very courteous and excessively polite. It was after my third or fourth event that I remarked to the lovely Savannah about how respectful AV fans at the events were towards the stars and she told me I was witnessing the dating personas. She said that the men who attend the meet-and-greets tend to think of AV stars as accessible so they are usually on their best behavior. I heard the big AVN events can get a bit obnoxious, though.
