Absolutely f*cking disgusting.
It should be considered at sentencing.

second degree murder, for killing in the line of duty. yet john crawford the 3rd, still waiting

That seems pretty bad on the cop's part. But do we know if Tyre Nichols ever smoked pot in high school?

Wonder if the "female acquaintance" was the ex who Tyre was rumored to be  sleeping with...

Pure speculation of course, but I'm on Fark.

I should be in the kitchen: Wonder if the "female acquaintance" was the ex who Tyre was rumored to be  sleeping with...

Pure speculation of course, but I'm on Fark.

It seems plausible.

I once knew a woman married to a cop. If I saw her somewhere, like the grocery store she could never talk long. I finally asked her why and she admitted if her cop husband thought she was out "too long" he would get jealous and scream at her and threaten her. We could only talk if I walked with her while she shopped. We could never walk out together because her husband or one of his pig buddies might see us.

We started to meet to shop once and a while. She needed someone to talk to. Eventually I started bringing up divorce and the fact that she was a victim of abuse. Last time I talked to her (before I moved) she was still too scared to try to get away from him for fear he would seek revenge and his cop buddies would help.

There was an early rumor that these guys were a goon squad acting under color of law, and they were going to get caught because they photographed each of their enforcement actions for proof to whoever they were actually loyal to.

We'll see if that stays a rumor, this article is just an interesting tidbit.

Wow.  That's some sociopathic shiat right there.

Yes - I'm sure they were just a few "bad apples'. Totally unrepresentative of the profession.

2023-02-08 7:21:07 AM
And the 3 PD employees he sent them too better have reported immediately or they need to be fired as well. Unbelievable where we have gotten as a collective group.

2023-02-08 7:21:14 AM
They all new they were being recorded.  They WANTED to be recorded.  They WANTED everyone to see what they had done.

2023-02-08 7:26:14 AM
The actions violated a Memphis Police regulation regarding confidential information, which states that officers cannot share information relating to official police matters without prior approval or subpoena, except to authorized persons.

Of course that's why the chief is mad...

Not very smart. And that's one of the problems with police officers, you don't need to be highly educated to get the job. That needs to change.

If they don't report it and it goes public, they're fired for withholding information that now makes them look bad.  If they do report it and it does or doesn't go public, they're fired for not Backing the Blue some other trivial infraction that looks like it will fly on paper.

2023-02-08 7:55:32 AM
Do keep in mind that this is all routine, they wouldn't do any of this unless they were confident that nothing would happen to them. Also remember that they learned this behavior from senior officers.

How so?

If a cop got this picture and went straight to his supervisor and reported it what cause is there to fire him.

I get it, it ain't never going to happen, we all know that. But I doubt he would be fired for it.

I do believe he would eventually be driven out by the other pigs for being a snitch, but that's different.

They don't want smart cops.

Smart cops would question stupid laws. Smart cops would question stupid policy. They don't want questions.

They want obedience. That's the culture of LEOs, and that's the culture that expresses itself to the populace.

I've taken a few graduate level Management and Organizational Behavior classes, so I am getting a kick out of these replies.

At this point, it's Public Relations Theater. Brass needs to show a "good faith" effort to "rid" themselves of the personnel cancer. Which we all know is a complete farce.

They really should start those SEL lessons with police departments rather than school districts. Absolutely sickening.

2023-02-08 8:43:11 AM
Imagine if you heard of a school where five teachers abused a child under their care, to the point where that child died of their injuries.

What actions would that school need to take before you trusted sending your child to that school?

Or maybe the question isn't the correct one, and we should be asking if parents could ever trust that school again.  Maybe the school should be shut down, and everyone associated with that school barred from ever working with children again.

Why should we treat police differently?

educated: Absolutely f*cking disgusting.

It's illuminating though, about the entire culture of the Memphis PD.   The goon saw ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with what he did, he wasn't embarrassed, ashamed, or even seemingly hesitant to share evidence that t he'd  committed  a serious crime with fellow police officers.

ROtten to the core, the whole Memphis PD needs to be torn down and replaced.  A new coat of paint ain't gonna fix this

2023-02-08 8:52:54 AM
I'm sure, if they could, these cops would have mounted Tyre's head above their fireplace. Because that's just how farked up police are.

2023-02-08 8:57:30 AM
For some reason, I keep thinking about Fred Hampton's gravesite, and how it's apparently a rite of passage for Chicago cops to riddle it with bullet holes (I guess since Fred himself isn't available).

That's the "culture" of policing. I'm sure we can fix it with some sensitivity training, though.
