Zero revenue.  Not profit, revenue.

There are many start-up entities (and this isn't just a tech space phenomenon) that generate no profit for awhile.  But zero revenue is... fishy.

So yeah, sportswashing.

How sad is it that we have to root for the PGA here?

It is backed by the Saudis so losing money right now is not the issue because it is not about making money. It's all about public relations and trying to put a positive spin on the Saudis.  Eventually, if the Saudis see they are not getting any benefit from it they will pull the plug.

Well, the biggest source of revenue for a sports league is a tv deal.  They did not have one.

They have one for this season.  That will increase revenue significantly, even if the deal is likely for very little money (they don't know how well it'll do, so I'm sure they're lowballing it significantly.  Which I'm sure the tour is fine with.  Get it out to more eyeballs and if they can generate a fanbase... THEN you parlay that into a bigger deal and actually make money)

USFL and XFL I'm sure are in very similar boats with very cheap tv deals... although they deal with it by paying their players in change they found in their couch cushions.

I'll be curious to check out what their production is like.  They even poached a couple PGA guys like Faherty.  (The guy is a conservative wack-a-doo, but I've always enjoyed his golf commentary)

FTA: The financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Sources told ESPN that it is a revenue-sharing arrangement and that LIV Golf won't receive rights fees from the CW network and would continue to pay production costs, as it did during its inaugural season in 2022.

2023 LIV revenue: $2.68

Between them, the PGA, USGA, Royal and Ancient, and Augusta National have committed all the sins.

Compared to the Saudis, they're still the good guys.

Yep.  That's a "LIV can have 50% of the advertising revenue we sell on the broadcasts."  Which will be commercials for Copperfit and herbal testosterone pills and Blu-Blocker sunglasses and lots and lots of public service messages.  I'm pretty sure that Lexus and IBM and other big pockets will sit this one out.

Where's the Bonesaw apologist and Saudi knob gobbler that inhabits these threads sometimes?

They're trying to justify it by saying the channel skews younger than the 65+ crowd that typically watches golf.

The truth is everyone else said no.

Just like the ridiculous claim their team format will produce individual franchises worth 10 figures each, it's a desperate attempt to appear legitimate.

That's not fair, it's ALSO about trying to make Western institutions look bad.
