Ah, finally a use for that little can opener on their Swiss Army Knives: opening Russian tanks.

Switzerland assisting would be amazing - they have great technology, and their flag is a big plus.

At the bare minimum sign of support without being overtly martial they could fly in several tons of Swiss chocolates. Caloric goodness and good for morale

Swiss mercenary forces?! This has no historical precedent!

Hard to be an arms dealer and also be neutral.

The Swiss either make or have large stockpiles of the ammunition for the 35mm Oerliken cannon which is what the German Gepard has.

Reports are that the re-export ban caused a lot of orders for weapons from Switzerland's weapons industry to be canceled.

I assume that you are referring to the option of either using a stripper clip to load or removing the box magazine to load.

It's a very neat bit of engineering

Honestly, so long as the EU is around the reasons for Swiss neutrality are somewhat obsolete.  The whole country is one big natural fortress and they used to be surrounded by bigger, more powerful countries that were always at each other's throats and constantly stabbing each other in their backs and switching sides.  In that situation the obvious choice is to focus on defense and not pissing anyone off, and since everyone is constantly switching sides that means not taking a side.

So long as their neighbors are all hunky dory with each other, no real reason to be neutral.

You do see it A VERY LITTLE in later model Mauser C96s. However....those tend to be self-modified, not factory models.

The genius is not in the magazine, it's in the action. You can cycle a k31 much faster than a regular bolt.

Yah, I'm pretty sure it is what you see them using in modern biathalon rifles. Watching them shoot is weird, the motions all seem so specific to that one application.

It's actually pretty simple.

The pope needed mercenaries to protect him...but he didn't trust (with good reason) Italian mercenaries.

/ during the time before the Italian Unification, many of the Italian principalities leased their armies out to the highest bidder

The Green Party is against this change, as they say that concessions in favor of Ukraine could become a "slippery slope" to the abolition of all restrictions, which would be incompatible with Switzerland's neutrality.

The rest of the world all understands that your famous neutrality is just the mechanism you use to keep making money with the world's shiattiest countries.

You know that, right?

Agreed. It looks like they also use that action system in the Olympics.

/ The least expensive that I saw when I looked was a Browning .22lr for $800. I cannot even imagine how expensive those rifles get.
