It was great until middle-out compression was invented by the gang at Pied Piper.

It would take a bit of knowledge or research to know this, but he's the L in the LZ family of compression techniques.

Do you know how long it would take to jerk off every man at his funeral?   I do, and I can prove it!

I came here to argue against that very line in the article... MP3 is compressed as fark.... Back in the early days, i'd hear Sound guys claiming how distructive it was to full fidelity... I thought they were full of shiat, old fogies that were frightened technology was passing them by, but today... i can acknowledge they were aboslutely right.  Even a lay-person can hear the difference, if the 2 version were played side by side.

Ogg, you should have listened to them, MP3s just sound flac-er and shn the sound

Jeez, an actual scientist died.

I thought only obscure TV, music and movie stars obits were on fark.

I came in here all ready to expound in detail about how mp3 is a lossy format. Then I thought to myself, self, I'd better make sure that subby was talking about mp3 and not some other legitimately lossless algorithm.

It sure is a good thing I didn't just spout off on the first thing that popped into my head! That would be embarrassing...

Yeah, neither the article nor subby claim MP3 is lossless. Buncha hyper dorks here, if you ask me.

This coming from a guy who brought up LZ77!
