I was watching The Resident a while back and they did a Fentanyl episode. All these high schoolers OD'd. This girl was in the ER and she was holding Fentanyl pills in her hand and everyone freaked out and the doctor put on rubber gloves to take the pills from her, and he explained how it can be absorbed by your skin and you can OD just by holding it. Really? Now were spreading this to the masses? Ugh. Show must have right-wing writers

China is the perfect thing to unite the GOP around.  Neocons hate China, because believing democrats were too soft on authoritarian regimes is the reason they formed in the first place.  Evangelicals hate China because of its hostility to organized religion (though they mostly only care about its hostility to Christianity).  "BSAB so vote Republican" centrists hate China because they think it stole all their manufacturing jobs. Libertarians hate China because its model of government is like all their nightmares come to life at once.  John Birchers hate China, because hating communists is sorta their raison d'etre.  Racists hate China because its full of Chinese people. MAGA Republicans hate China because their orange idol talks about it being bad a lot.  Qanon types hate China for working with Fauci to make a global pandemic that also was a hoax or something.  Right wing media types like talking about China, because it ties into the Hunter Biden laptop story they have desperately been trying to make a thing for the better part of 3 years.  All of them also see painting Biden as too weak on China as an opportunity to tie Biden to all the things they hate about China.

Modern to me means "in our lifetime".  There's still a few Americans who remember FDR, but the majority of people on Fark probably don't fall in that category.  I think you could make a convincing case for LBJ or even Nixon, but I personally don't count anyone prior to Reagan as modern.
