I'm sure they'll get right on that and there will definitely be consequences for not complying in 10, 15 or so years when they get a second strongly worded letter.

What's more, the letter says that the campaign has new mistakes in trying to correct some of its old mistakes.

Because of course it does.  Why would a GQP campaign not try to fix everything the first time while being endorsed by TFG?

If everyone knew, he still would have gotten 40% of the vote.

Walker might have a valid excuse what with the whole head trauma thing....

Senator Werewolf would have been so cool.

It's worth noting that both Walker and Santos are tokens.

I ran for local office with a budget under $50, small town. On one form there was a typo, I got a letter from the office of the secretary of state saying they were not pursuing legal action but I was on notice.  I can't imagine what kind of trouble Walker is in.

The difference is that you didn't pay attention to Santos until it was too late.

It's Alabama, he ran as a republican, and he's a former football star. He's not in any trouble.

/maybe it was Georgia
//can't keep track of all those shiathole states

The comments had people saying, "Ever notice that the media keeps reporting on GOP campaign finance investigations more than Democrat ones," aggressively ignoring the simple math that says that if you violate the law more often than the other side, you're going to get investigated more than the other side.

Concrete Donkey: A politician lied   Fetch the fainting couch

As much as I admire your determination to be yawningly blasé about this:

"... the letter identifies inadequate explanations for contributions that exceed legal limits on individual donations, as well as incomplete accounting for contributions from organizations that are not registered with the FEC."

It seems a bit more than serious than Walker's astonishing stretch of absurd lies that were already on record.

It truly says something about how far down the shiathole the GQP has pulled our expectations of behaviour that anyone would attempt to be unconcerned about this.

You may have a hard time believing it, but even 20 years ago it was actually considered rather a big deal for a politico to be caught telling an obvious and easily verifiable lie. Everyone knew and expected them to stretch the truth, spin, use weasel words, etc, but to just bald faced lie was not acceptable.

Awwww thats adorable. Youre stupid enough to believe citizens united was for any reason other than funneling foreign money into elections in blatant violation of the law

Santos may be a pathological liar, but he's not *nearly* as brain damaged as Walker.

With Santos, it's psychological.  With Walker, it's organic.
