I didn't know Ozzy had a recent album.  But then I've long thought the Grammys reward mediocrity, and it would be insulting to get one.

They're going to have to start calling them the grampas.

He should announce his retirement. Then he'll get the sympathy vote, as well as doing the world a favor.

Someone should remind Grammy voters the lifetime achievement award is there for a reason. Maybe hand out severs in one year for every nostalgia act and declare with the award they're ineligible for future awards.

Just automatically award a "Legends of the Grammy" award for anyone who wins like 5 of them, then render them ineligible after that.

Is the newest Sabbath possibly as good as Jethro Tull's Crest of a Knave?

Difficulty: AJFA wouldn't have deserved the grammy even if the category was "heavy metal" and not "hard rock/ heavy metal".  Justice was like the 10th best metal album of 1988.

and in no way at all is this a reaction to the news he now has to retire from the music business as he no longer has the health to tour.

This is why all awards tend to wind up as meaningless. Eventually someone we really like hits a hard spot and we just want to give it to them to honor their life time and efforts, but it's not honest to the moment about the particular award and people who maybe should have won it are denied. And it's just down to bad timing and our easily swayed emotional selves that can't be consistent when the feels of the moment will be placated instead.

I have no clue on this here, but i do know the timing of this don't make it look as legit as it could have been had the timing of events not interested so poorly.

The Grammys are generally a popularity contest, and meant to sell more records (if that's the word to use anymore).  I may be tying onions to my belt, but I don't see how Beyonce deserves more Grammys than Stevie Wonder.

Still, it was good to see some legends get their due.

The album is pretty good.  Deserving of the award even if none of the other nominees in the category were impressive in any way

The best metal performance field was okay, but not loaded like last year with great songs from Mastodon, Dream Theater, and Gojira.

Yeah, Molly Tuttle is an amazing player, and her band is great live. When I hear her play, I don't know whether to practice more....or put my guitar back in the case and never open it again.
