I saw them last time they were here at The Electric Factory in Philly. The place was supposed to hold 3,000 but I think there had to be 5,000 there it was so freakin' packed.

The great thing about these goth reunion tours is that the artists don't have to dress up to look dead anymore. Really saves on the makeup budget.

To be fair, VNV seems to run through every few years. :)

/I actually opened and closed for them some years back on one of their stops, on their tour with Orgy

I saw them in Dallas on their last tour... was like a 20 year HS reunion for goths...the venue played music over the sound system before they took the stage...and people were just standing around talking...was like 5-10 minutes after the band started before anyone even really noticed...and even then the canned show they put on most of the crowd just went back to talking for the rest of their set.

was kind of pathetic

/was they "Gypsy Tea Room" ...same place I'd seen They Might be Giants at a year or so prior and TMBG had twice the crowd size and was way more energetic

the down size is some of their aging Fan base are not especially honest with themselves as to what kinds of outfits they can still pull off in public

In 1991 he famously had some bands kicked off the bill for "looking too goth".
When asked how they were to be compensated, he replied, "Put their heads on f**king pikes in front of the venue."

I almost walked out of a potentially amazing Einsturzende Neubauten show because the audience was talking so loudly I couldn't hear them. The band almost walked out, too.

I can't imagine paying that much to completely ignore the show and drunkenly yap at the same people you see every weekend.

Saw The Sisters of Mercy sometime in the late 90s in Chicago. They put on a pretty fun show. What stood out for me was the opening band, TRS-80. Their performance made me a fan.

"Once paid $20 to see a washed up band I enjoyed in HighSchool, the band put on a canned show that was very very lame, but at least I had good company so it wasn't a total wash"

is more accurate.

So I've always wanted to see Sisters of Mercy.
They are playing in Seattle (home) on May 21st.
I'm in LA for Cruel World on May 20th.

As much as I'd like to, I just can't do it.

One of my own - howdy, Philly Philly! Remember the rain and BO in the stairwells? And the bartenders trying to hose the crowd down with the bars water hose things? Good times...

Tickets in Portland, OR are apparently hitting $200/ticket.

Nah, I'm good. Hard pass.
The Crystal ballroom isn't a stadium or any huge venue...I didn't even pay $85 to see Tom Petty on his final tour in Seattle. I didn't even spend $100 to see NIN before Covid.

Pass.

Even VNV Nation tickets AT THE SAME VENUE never break $50
