I guess it's nice to still have fans.  And it's nice for fans to have an indoor venue to keep warm and be drunk.  And it's nice to reach into the most middle school place in your heart to try to feel superior to someone by making them feel bad about themselves.  It never works.

College students have always been classy during basketball games, here is an example from 1988 and Arizona State fans:

Among the things shouted at Kerr, who is now one year younger than his father was when he died, were chants of "P.L.O.," along with "Your father's history" and "Why don't you join the Marines and go back to Beirut?"

I try my best but still do it occasionally.

Was sitting in my university's student section many moons ago and the opposing team had a player that had to take the SAT four or five times to be eligible. Every time that guy came to the line:

"Hodge can't read!"
"Hodge can't read!"
"Hodge can't read!"

College basketball student sections are no place for the thin skinned or people that take things too seriously.

Purdue will likely bow out in the Sweet 16 this year.  It's just the way.

They used to refer to Gene Keady as "the best regular season coach".  That backhanded compliment was true.

I have done MANY stuoid things in my life but directing hate at another human has not been one of them, my stupid could only hurt me (and often did)   These"kids" are old enough to vote and in some cases drink. which is old enough to know better

Hey, speaking of shiatty last-place teams in shiatty western conferences, how come this story about a New Mexico State basketball player who killed someone wasn't bigger national news? Apparently he was lured into a honey trap by a 17-year-old girl at UNM whose friends then ambushed him, as supposed retaliation for a fight at a UNM-NMSU football game. One of them pulled a gun and he shot back in self defense, killing him (because of course he was packing). There's surveillance footage. I only recently heard about this. It sounds like one of the most farked-up sports stories of the year. Did I miss a whole Fark discussion on this?

I heard about it from a Facebook friend who lives in New Mexico. Otherwise, would have had no idea.

The player's name is Mike Peake. I feel like this should have been big national news. He's not being prosecuted because the case for self defense seems pretty clear-cut.

This is the same school who's student Newspaper made their front page fark Bush, and many in the media said Bravo!  But when a Nascar crowd starts chanting fark Joe Biden, it gets reported by "friendly" media as Let's Go Brandon.

I like to call it "a Ukraine." That way I trigger Russian sympathizers, Ukrainian sympathizers, and linguists.
