When I was a kid there were two of the same gas stations on opposite corners on a major intersection from one another. Owned by the same person I believe, trying to maximize customers

One closed, the other was eminent domained so the roads could be expanded

100'?  Maybe less?

I did RTFA.  Surprised they didn't mention the two Dunkins kitty-corner to each other on Rte 9, somewhere west of Boston.  It's been decades since I've been in Boston, so I don't remember which intersection it was at; but it was there and it was weird to see.

Though, to be fair, there's a place in Seattle where they have (or had) 2 Starbucks right next to each other.  One was in a hospital, the other was for the general public I guess.

Makes sense in a way. You don't want to cross traffic or depend on Masshole drivers to let you in traffic.

This is more common that one would think, with a wide variety of stores and restaurants.

I'm just going to do my city (Riverside, CA).

https://www.galleriatyler.com/en/directory/map/

Near the center of the mall, there is a Sunglass Hut on the first floor.  On the second floor, in almost the same spot (but on the opposite side of the corridor), there is a second Sunglass Hut.  Also, in the same general area on both floors, there is a Lids hat store.  There used to be a McDonalds in that mall's food court (not there anymore), and also one directly across the street.

For restaurants currently, best I could do is two Del Tacos within a mile of each other...

Not far from where I live there are two Speedway gas stations on opposite corners of a intersection. It's the result of Speedway buying out another chain a couple years ago.

That road is on the way to the airport. Good luck making a left on that road to get to either one on the other side.

At one point in the Seattle area, there is a transit center with an in-building Starbucks practically kiddie corner from another Starbucks at one end of it with a Tully's at the other.
