The GOP sucks at comedy--all conservatives do.  Because of this, it will be a long time, if ever, before they figure out how to package their current package of evil for Gen Z, which has been raised on it.

They know this and it's why they're getting more brazen with sabotage, power grabs, insurrection, civil war talk, and vote suppression--pulling out all the stops in a shotgun approach--rather than changing their message or giving up on their stupid-ass platform.

MSNBC fired Phil Donahue because he disagreed with the Iraq War, and they've since become a haven for George W. Bush's biggest apologists and enablers.

I am constantly bombarded by Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson BS, and right wing comedy channels in my feed, and it is pretty clear my political leanings in my choices on YT. The algorithm definitely tries to drag people to the right. I am betting right wingers don't get things from atheist science channels in their feed. I have wanted to set up a fake channel of right wing choices to test this theory, but I have a life.

To Hora, who grew up in a farm family, Republicans need to take the conversation back - arguing topics like abortion, gun control and immigration reform distract young voters from more applicable concerns involving finances and the economy.

Except Repubs use those topics to distract from the fact that their solutions to the economy are shiat.

Exactly, there is actually very astute political analysis on YT. While those channels do have a liberal focus, they are very good at presenting real facts and data and they rarely just jump to unfounded conclusions. Unlike fark Chuck Todd who is a bobble head who will only do legitimate analysis if it is clear there is no other choice because the facts are so absolutely unavoidable.

Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok absolutely warp their viewers in the same way, and on a more individualized level than TV ever could. You have to consciously steer away from right wing extremist crap on those platforms.

Given the state of mainstream news media, I can't really fault them. Hell, I get a significant chunk of my news from YouTube (Some More News, The biatchuation Room, The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight, and other similar channels), and the rest comes from Fark, Twitter (and similar like Mastodon, lately, mainly from the same journalists posting on both), various sites and blogs in my RSS feed reader (Truthout Prism, ArsTechnica, etc), and a smattering of podcasts (Even More News, TBR, It Could Happen Here, and most of the other Cool Zone Media podcasts, etc).

Sure that means there is very much a progressive, even anarchist, bias to the news I get, but it turns out I am aware of my bias and I am perfectly fine with being biased in favor of supporting human rights and being anti-fascist/racist/bigot/capitalist.

It works for blocking particular channels, sure. But no matter how many of these right wing channels I block, no matter how many factual, non-biased science channels I try to watch, no matter how much non-right wing content I click on, "the algorithm" keeps barfing up more content that uses "woke" as a pejorative in the title or the preview. The owners of YouTube could easily fix this, they just... won't, because doing so would lose them money and power.

Believe it or not, you should probably add Teen Vogue to that list. They often have some very astute political analysis between all of the fashion and pop cultures. For real.
