But then the next sentence is "The actor was driving in West Los Angeles when the woman made a left in front of him before he could hit his brakes "

Taking a left turn isn't swerving, and adding in 'before he could hit his brakes' seems superfluous.  I'm curious if she was oncoming traffic and turned left directly in front of him, or if she was same direction traffic, and was moving over from the right side (or a bike lane) to the left side of the lane, to make a left turn.  In one of those she's at fault, in the other, depending on exact circumstances, it could be either of them at fault.

That she's not dead or in critical condition makes the second one more likely.

I still wonder why wealthy people don't hire a driver/assistant to get them around when they are old, drunk, or high.
If anyone missed it, Jay Leno ran into a chain on his motorcycle and broke both his kneecaps plus other injuries.
Get a driver....

My parents are both in their 80s and safe to drive.  My inlaws should have had their licenses pulled a decade ago.

Once you hit 70 retests should be a thing.  Once you hit 80 it should be annual.  And because we went and built a civilization that is hostile to people who can't drive, we ought to have a better solution for the elderly than "pay for a cab", "depend on the kindness of strangers", or "ignore the weather, walk to the nearest bus stop, and try not to die before the bus arrives".

Maybe towns ought to provide four Ubers a week on request to residents over 75 or something.

my mom had 3 adult children willing and able to drive her wherever whenever. instead she insisted on driving herself in her old age. quite often blasted drunk. a town cop seized her license when he found she drove up onto someone's lawn blitzed out of her mind. senior citizens should have their licenses revoked and indeed, there should be volunteer programs to drive them where they want to go.

You can't drive arrogantly on a bike. The big SUVs have blind spots, they might no see you no matter how observant they are if you're hanging out there. You have to watch for signals and be aware of your surroundings.
I used to work near a university and it wasn't uncommon for a bike to be clipped by a turning car because the bike didn't stop at a stop sign. Heck, people would just wander out and get mad at you while you were sitting in the middle of the intersection blocking traffic waiting for them so it's not just bikers but more of a people problem.

Casual arrogance: i.e. "I got this.  I don't need no steenking help."  Also, rich people are rich partially because they find ways to not spend money.

For Leno the point of being richer than God and having all those cars/bikes is to drive them.

The rest of them rich people, why the hell are you driving a boring ass SUV when you could be driven around in a boring ass SUV.
