A driver was killed Saturday after a group of vehicles was spotted street racing along the East Freeway towards Winnie, deputies said.

Man, I really don't remember that episode.

I see the problem. He crashed because he didn't have wheels.

The department said the deputy walked to the car and found the driver dead.

On the plus side...I bet he won't do that again.

Driver obviously played a little too much NFS Underground.  He thought if he crashed the gate it would lead to a shortcut.

Well at least they didn't kill any innocent people. So that is good

Idiots.  Pick your street race opportunities carefully.  Slow down, let traffic clear out, and call it a day when clearly you won or lost.  This extended run shiat is stupid.  At least with an EV or a GTR you can only do it so many times consecutively before the car melts down and goes to Limp Mode.

Back in the day they used to race high end cars up GA 400 late at night with spotters at Holcomb Br., Northridge and Abernathy - who would call it clear of traffic. Heard even the cops would watch sometimes. Went myself to watch from Northridge once. A Ferrari in full throat is one of the coolest sounds in the world. Saw much the same thing many years later in Hong Kong. Even further back in the day was Dodge Street in Omaha, with the cops usually just observing. This racing in traffic shiat is unacceptable.

They kill themselves, I just shrug. Who cares if some moron removes themselves from the gene pool.
They kill someone else, I get pissed off.

At 2:30 in the afternoon?

Fark off and...  Well that part's taken care of.

I have a highway near me that has a 5 mile straight section and you can hear people racing on it late at night.  That late at night it's basically empty, except for the occasional police officer.  I don't really care of people want to risk their own lives then.  But to do it in the middle of the day I just an asshole maneuver.

Agreed, with the exception of the Ferrari sound.   I can't explain it,
But, to me, the raw, coarse shreik of the Lambo Countach V12 just sings to me.  It is the language of my people.  No I am not Iitalian.  That sound is music to my ears.

HOW TO STREET RACE:

1) Don't.
2) If you think you should street race, refer to item 1.

Agreed.  Do it at night when roads are more sparsely populated and you can make room for your grudge.  And ive driven on SoCal interstaes.  Middle if the day?  Get lost.  Nighttime when things are more open, if things are clear enough, you better have a handle on your ride, because I'm not gonna make it easy for the next quarter mile or.so for you.

Afew miles down I-90 from me is a stretch of road that crosses through native American territory that the NY Troopers stay away from.  Prime territory for street racing....if any cars with equal power ever meet, but that rarely happens.  But, the vantage point is good enough that, had you an exotic car or sport bike capable of insane speeds for a bit, things are usually wide open, with enough space to cool down afterwards.

Street racing is kind of cool if they pick the right place and time, but most of the people inclined to do it aren't anywhere near capable of doing that.

It used to be a lot simpler.  Now, any moron can buy a Shelby or Hellcat, et al, and get stupid. Look at all of the Hellcat buyers who take their car off the lot and try to take put an oak tree with it.  It used to be people that were cat guys for the most part who knew what their car could do, and made way with such

As a former "sensible" street racer, I'll join in on the yelling at the cloud.

Day racing?  What a dumbass.
On a street/freeway with traffic?  Dumbass hazard to others.

After midnight, before 2am please.  Or just before dawn.
Use only a road that can be sealed from entrances.  With plenty of road after the 1/4 mile.

The shiat you read about today... ad hoc racing in traffic, daytime, intersection takeovers to do donuts into crowd...

Lastly, I've never seen the expression "crashed out."  Usually, it's just "crashed."  But I guess crashed out is a good combination of crashed/cashed out.

Thise intersection "takeovers"? F every single person that takes part they all get what they deserve, including getting run over by cars doing donuts and slamming into morons in the middle.  They ALL have it coming.  I am.not sympathetic to any of them.

Public roadways aren't public raceways.

In my experience the most vocal street racers do not like going to the track, at all.  It's incredibly damaging to their fragile egos when they find out all the money they poured into their vehicle does not offset their complete lack of talent behind the wheel.

Doesn't look good on the 'gram or the ticktocks when your 800 horsepower R34 dyno queen gets smoked by a shiatbox Fiat 500 driven by someone who knows how to brake deep and carry momentum through a corner.
