It is surprising, not surprising, or sad that Joe Rogan was worth $200m and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were worth only $18m?

(Glad that I finished Newsradio so I never have to see or hear Joe Rogan ever again.)

I actually had to skip big chunks of the last season. It was just SO bad.

I've never gone beyond the free service level on Spotify, and I wouldn't use it at all if our music minister didn't use it for the volunteer tech crew at church to preview the Sunday set list.

I use Google Podcasts for podcasts and I've been pretty pleased with Tidal for music.

Stole money from musical acts to give to Joe Rogan. It's the tech bro way.

None of the above.  Like him or hate him Rogan has actually worked...a lot over the years.  Markle did way more than Harry, but not nearly as much as Rogan.

Like the people Joe Rogan helped kill by pushing anti vax nonsense and horse dewormer, this will never get old.

Spotify tainted itself with Joe Rogan before I ever got around to trying it. They basically vaccinated themselves against me.

PICTURED ABOVE: Mr. Ek displays the size of the horsesh*t sandwich that investing in Joe Rogan turned out to be. This was only for illustrative purposes as Mr. Ek has already eaten the actual sh*t sandwich that upset shareholders forced down his throat for investing so much money in human garbage can, Joe Rogan.

Joe Rogan is trash.

2023-02-05 3:14:30 PM
As boneheaded as those decisions were, Spotify is the best streaming service app out there. And I have been a customer for almost a decade. Nothing compares to the interface and musical selection. It's very rare that I have to find something on YouTube or elsewhere.

So whatever crusade you guys are on about Spotify, it seems misguided. People complain about the money artists make from Spotify. But where were they making that money previous to Spotify? From CD sales, etc. Which people stopped consuming through either streaming giants or piracy.

Thanks for listening to my manifesto.

I tried Spotify....I thought the audio quality was awful (akin to RealAudio or AM radio). The "free trial" said I was getting full bitrate....

The album selection blew too.....11,546 claim to be an album, but the actual album might not even exist. A playlist consisting of 11 artists and 33 tracks is t what I was looking for...

None of this sounds like Spotify.

I left Spotify when they bought Rogan. Spending so much money for him and not the artists that made the platform was such bullshiat. And then they go and acquire the Gimlet and Parcast podcast networks, making them Spotify only. farkers. Yeah I can still stream the podcasts with the free tier but I don't want to give them my business.

Joe Rogan made a chunk of money convincing idiots to drink horse jizz on Fear Factor, and why anyone other than UFC thought it was wise to pay this guy any money blows my mind.

All we need to know about Joe Rogan is he gave a voice to Alex Jones when most people never heard of him. That alone makes Rogan a POS.

Spotify is great if you're into obscure music and want to go down some rabbit holes. I've come across so many great bands I.wouldnt otherwise have found. Also tons of local acts have albums on there, even some long defunct ones. I don't much care for podcasts.

He was a work horse. Sure he was a supporting player in some movies but he didn't try to create some Wayne's World character or "It's Pat"  to make a franchise out of.

Hartman is my all the me favorite SNL performer, his highs were never as high as Eddie Murphy but he was always good in every sketch he was in.

I get the same thing from bandcamp.

And artists get more money from bandcamp sales than any other service, afaik.

I would've paid to see Colon Blow: The Movie. It couldn't have been worse than any of the other crap coming out of SNL alumni and he would've been left sitting atop a mountain of money... or something.

Musicians get pad VASTLY more by Spotify than they do with radio play on a per listener basis. It's magnitudes higher.

I listen to one interview Rogan had with Quentin Tarantino and that was pretty good because it had lots of insight to Quentin's movies. I listen a few more interviews and they were bad. Don't listen anymore.
I'm enjoying Conan O'brien's podcasts and the rebroadcast of The Late Show with Colbert.

Yeah, I bet Spotify pays better than wax cylinder sales do, too.
