Oil finds a way

For all of Russia's complaints, they are pretty much stuck with ships from countries sanctioning them. Their protestations that they will just not deliver oil (or oil products now) on the capitalist, imperialist pig's ships are BS. They do not have enough of their own ships. No one does.

Moscow picked up a few extra old second-hand ships to make up some of the difference. But if country A gets a discount because Russia has to use Dutch or Greek ships to deliver to them, Country B is gonna want to haggle a discount too. This affects *all shipments*

The refined product loophole just got closed, so Russia can't bypass the cap by shifting more local production to their refineries.

And I did not even get into insurance. But you'd have to be very corrupt, or very stupid, to let a run down Russian oil tanker into your ports w/o proper, reputable insurance. An oil spill that closes your port is not gonna clean up easily. That's about 90 percent of why Turkey, which had avoided sanctioning Russia, is actually policing the insurance/price cap deal in their straits. They are treaty bound to allow commercial ships but not if there is a legit risk like an oil spill they'd have to pay to clean.

Russia and its allies will likely offer government insurance. It'll be interesting to see if anybody trusts them enough to pay claims to let them into port or to transit areas where insurance is required. I sure as hell wouldn't.

It's being exaggerated in the news, like COVID and January 6th.

I think a number of people here are suffering some basic comprehension failure.

Let's review: the AP headline reads "How will EU ban and West's price cap on Russian diesel work?"

Subby's headline reads "To be honest, probably not very well. But thanks for asking"

Seems pretty clear that subby thinks the price caps/sanctions won't work, and my guess is because there are too many other groups out there willing to circumvent the caps/sanctions as we've seen over the past year.

Is Russia still pretending that we're all going to freeze and then eat our pet guinea pigs?

Meh...

The world needs to knuckle down (bend a knee if you will) to protest Russia's bullschitt, and not buy anything from them. ANYTHING.
It might not be comfortable or convenient, but choking out the biggest asshole in the playground has a lot to be said for it, and in Russia's case, needs to be done.

For example, I stopped buying Russian caviar...

Let's check in and see how things are going for Russia in the natural gas export market:

You can always tell when the media is lying.  Whenever they say something that upsets conservatives, it MUST be false.
