Other review bombers were more forthcoming with the source of their discontent. "Again just another instance of the small minority of gay people exerting their influence in Hollywood to push their agenda on the world."

When I was younger I knew that bigots were terrible people. What I didn't know then was that they would also be so utterly tedious as well.

It was risky putting a bottle episode this early in the chain, but it explains how they have supplies (just like in the game) for later.

TLOU does not have a lengthy backstory for secondary characters. HBO will have to invent them. As far as they go, I'd consider this one wildly successful.

Yeah, I mean, how terrible is it to tell a love story in the middle of an apocalypse? Don't these folks know that you're supposed to bury the audience in grief, sorrow, pain and suffering? Constantly. Nuance and hope have no place in Hollywood, and they should just embrace that the world is gonna burn. Gay people are the worst, trying to find moments of beauty and joy. Hope? Hope is for suckers, and these hard bois doing the review bombs, they know what's up.

95% of all movies, TV, magazines, video games, porn. art, etc, is straight white people, but gay people are pushing 'their agenda' on the world?

Does anyone base their viewing choices on IMDB reviews? That's like deciding on where to eat because of that one person on Yelp. I mainly use IMDB to answer, "Where the hell have I seen that guy/gal/cat before?"

The silver lining is that review bombers put a ridiculous amount of effort into something that absolutely doesn't matter and just pisses off the fans.

I think the queer kids who are struggling to see a future with themselves in it probably thought that it was necessary.

I have no opinion on this show but what a strange reasoning for apocalyptic fiction.

Same reason zombie shows are popular during economic uncertainty.

How we tell our stories is linked to the fears and hopes of the day.

Or, sometimes a sled is just a sled, and not a link back to a lost past.

Well, people KNOW that they exist, for one. And that they are part of a larger society. How much MOAR of an agenda do y'all need to see? I mean, if they'd just stay quiet, they would still be "the love that dare not speak its name." Man, it's like you people don't 'Murica...

Homophobes!
The Straights!!!

To me, that writing is more offputting for both the source, Kotaku, and the subject.  Ethics in gaming journalism expands to pay television yet it continues to take a dive!  And why should I take a keen interest in who f*cks who? I never saw Skyler's boobs.  Why should I see Ron Swanson's?

They are just pissed that the guy in the story who is most self reliant, gun owner, survivalist, man's man turned out to be gay

They liked him, saw themselves in the character and then they had to deal with the idea that a gay man can share their hobbies

A gun owner and a survivalist/prepper?

If anything, right wingers should be happy that a gay guy was doing "conservative" activities and not "liberal" ones like crossdressing and being a drag queen.

Yes.

Why?

Why do people care about Rotten Tomatoes? Why do people care about the Oscars?

They just do, because they want to watch the popular thing. Social animals and what not, we humans be.

You can change it to anything. Fark. Reddit. Imgur. youtube, etc.

I am just curious what is the "gay agenda"? Is it to turn frogs gay?

Or, is it just that these people hate themselves because they are living in the closet and cannot bring themselves to admit that they are gay so that makes them uncomfortable seeing it on screen?

The gay agenda is to get everyone to stop hating/fearing gays. And that's what they have a problem with, because they want to keep on hating.

I read about this earlier and I initially got upset about it.  But in the grand scheme of things, the popular rating of IMDb doesn't amount to much. All the opinions of that episode that are worth anything have already been counted among the overwhelmingly positive category.

Offerman initially didn't even want to accept the role. His calendar was too full around the time they wanted to shoot it. His wife read the script, and insisted that he went.  I hope he gets many awards for this episode.

P.s.   Who cares if they got that "10 miles West from Boston" thing wrong. Oh my God, I'm so tired of reading about that petty criticism.

Wait, dude's straight? I figured the "Nick Offerman is a manly man" thing on Park was ironic meta humor. I'm surprised they even let him have that role with all the focus on representation these days. Sounds like people are pleased with him though.

Nick Offerman is crying and playing a gay man in the most transparent ploy to get an award since My Left Foot, and the whole episode is a two hour mawkish misdirect whose sole purpose is to deliver a truck with no strings attached to the protagonists. I'm sure homophobes are piling on, they will for any depiction of positive minority representation onscreen, but there wasn't any need in this case.

I guess I can only speak for myself but I don't care if there's a place for me in a nightmare hellscape where society has collapsed. I'd like to keep my "what if" aspirations a tad higher than that. I never got the appeal of doomsday prepping.

See I hate the Last of Us part 2, but its due to the cyclical vengeance bleak story that was a pointless waste of time. Its been done before. I'm not going to review bomb a perfectly good first season, because of my distaste for part 2 has utterly ruined my enjoyment of the first one. Normally I can just ignore a terrible sequel, but for once I can't get the taste of ashes out of my mouth on this one.

Then why would you even watch such a film at all?
And why, if you did, would the portrayal of people not like you in such a film be a problem to you?
I'm sorry - I'm just puzzled.

I've never paid the slightest attention to reviews for movies and shows, in the time it takes to look them up and read them, you could have just watch it yourself. On top of that they're only review bombing the individual episode, not the show itself. Even if I did care about user ratings, I'm sure as hell not going to bother with reading reviews for each and every episode.

The latest straight white privilege put down on diversity in media - "It's unnecessary - I don't need it, therefore it's not needed" .
The heart and soul of privilege is assuming that what you don't need is not needed by anyone.
"I don't experience police brutality/homophobia/discrimination/poverty - what's wrong with you that you do?"

I think you missed what I was trying to convey. I don't want to imagine myself in such a scenario. I don't care if there are "people like me" in such a scenario. That's not particular to this show, that I don't watch because I don't already have HBO or that much interest, it could apply to any post-apoc-pic. I see the usefulness of representation in entertainment but in this genre it confuses me.

I only use the reviews after I've seen the movie, to help put my opinion into words.  And usually only when I've seen something that I seem to have a minority opinion on.  Like, am I crazy for not liking this or do others share the same opinion.  So...confirmation bias.

This is a great show.  I've never played the game, but it's pretty obvious (and very well done) when they are providing fan service to those who have.   On my list of stuff I don't want to see is "Two big hairy bearded dudes getting their freak on," so when it got to those parts I just fast forwarded.   I still got all sad when Frank died, and it was still a great episode.

Haters 'gonna hate, but they for damn sure are gonna watch.
