People with invisible friends they pray to should not have access to firearms

The U.S. Department of Justice did not respond to request for comment but is likely to appeal.

Which might prod Congress into strengthening Second Amendment protections with bipartisan support.

This is actually a good decision.

The ATF really would only be addressing tobacco.  The 21st amendment gives states the rights to regulate booze and 2nd amendment means zero restrictions.

I don't have a problem with this.

People on terrorist watch lists, people who have multiple felonies for violent crimes and people with domestic abuse related restraining orders, however...

Course, those are the people the GOP seem to want to have guns the most for...some reason.

While I think marijuana users should be able to own a gun, I also think the court ordering that the use of a scheduled drug can't be used to prevent possession of a gun is problematic.

If the usfg had decriminalized and rescheduled and the ATF had continue to use it as a disqualifier for ownership I would go along with it.

I guess I don't see why this decision wouldn't ripple out to allow anyone using any drug to buy a firearm because the use of the drug is "not in and of itself a violent, forceful, or threatening act,"

The lists you'd use to restrict people isn't without problems.  Pretty damn easy to get on the terrorist watch list, especially if you have some brown to you.  "Violent felons" also have a magical tendency toward the brown, hence why too few complained when their right to vote was taken.  Yet the main argument for the right to keep and bear arms is protection against the government and who needs protection from the government most?

The abusers though...that's a better target.  Regularly pass as non-criminals and by far the most likely to go on killing sprees.

This will be tough for SCOTUS.  On the one hand, they're pro-gun.  On the other hand, they're anti-doing-the-right-thing.

Wonder how it will play out.

Well it kinda makes sense.  If you mark yes, the dealer doesn't sell you a gun.  If you mark no, then the government busts you for lying on a federal form.

Removing any right from someone just because they use a legal substance is clearly wrong.  Doesn't matter what's being banned, the ban itself is odious on its face.

They kinda need to, especially those working/owning a dispensary. Since the government prohibits them from using Federal mean, they have to deal in cash and have problems using banks. Plenty of guaranteed cash on hand makes you a target for armed theft.

Meh, the federal government is far behind the will of the people on this one. A solid majority of states have legalized it for at least medical use and almost half have legalized it for recreational purposes.

And, as others have said, I'd rather potheads have guns than drunks. I'm not a pothead, I do have guns and I do drink, not to excess mostly anymore but hey.

I don't see why pot is more dangerous than booze as far as violence goes. (It's absolutely not)

Which isn't the point, but thanks for stating the obvious. This is a discussion about whether or not simply BEING a marijuana user should disqualify you from owning a gun. Nothing about actually being under the influence.
