It's pathetic that the AV Club saw that as the main takeaway from this piece:

You really have to WANT to avoid the actual point of the story.  You have to be making an effort not to notice.

If you want to disagree with the nature of the story, do that, but using that particular story to say "Hammer admits he's a bad dude" tells us way too much about a site that used to offer some pretty decent coverage of the culture.

I read a recent article where he references "woke" people and stopped right there. People calling you out for being an abusive ahole isn't being woke.

He did deliver a better performance than David Beckham.

I mean... that's a pretty fair response.

"I don't agree with the magnitude that these complaints were blown up into, but it's obvious at this point that the people I was in relationships with were upset with my behavior in ways they weren't telling me at the time, so I'm going to change the behavior regardless because I don't want people I'm dating to not be happy with it" is at least something that a non-abuser genuinely caught flat-footed by accusations of non-consensual behavior would sincerely be thinking.
