Haley has long teased speculation that she might throw her hat in the ring, including during an interview with Fox News last month in which she said that "when you are looking at the future of America, I think it's time for new generational change."

Nikki Haley is 51 LOL

I cannot see anyone other than DeShthead having even a chance.  Like...Mike Pence, Asa Hutchinson, Tim Scott...really? You guys are just padding your list there.  At best, lists like these are just lists of "Ron DeSantis and people who might be his VP candidate (lol except not u, Mike P)."

I love thow American media has basically ended the Biden administration after 2 years. Now everything is only news if it can be explained as a way to challenge Donald Trump for the presidency.

What's really really relaly interesting is that this new narrative is presuming trump is the winner, and by sidelining whatever Biden does, trump is being treated as the incumbent president. US journalism's default position, that the GOP leads every conversation and Dems just respond, or are excluded from the discussion, has reached a kind of perfection.

The US media is treating him like an incumbent. Their word choices are infuriating, and counterfactual, but they're doinjg it.

Nah, they've overstepped that restricted little narrative and now make him seem as strong, and like his campaign ahs the advantages, of a sitting president.

Hogan is probably the most palatable of the list, though he's still pretty bad; the rest are just ridiculously awful. As a result, he'll be lucky to break 6 figures in aggregate national primary votes.

She's a sh*ty human being. But ~20 years younger than the other sh*ty people leading her party.

To be fair, a generation is generally considered 20-30 years, so she is comfortably in that window compared to the last two presidents. Not that I want Haley in government, much less as the president.

Nor do I want 43 year old douche bro trust fund baby as president, so... I don't think anyone is going to win this next election, citizen interest wise anyway. *shrug*

Counter-point:

She is very close to the average age of congress, and her generation is significantly overrepresented in the halls of government, even if they aren't as overrepresented as the boomers.

You can say that Nikki Haley's not a boomer, but you can't say that her demographic would represent any sort of "generational change" in government.

That's not factually how it works, though. Point being, having the media use language that's indistinguishable from the scenario where he actually were the titleholder plays to his preferred narrative. I personally prefer the narrative that, as a loser, he lost any such claim. Because he's a loser, and should be reminded of it as often as possible.

The only potential challenger out of that bunch is DeSantis and he's probably gonna wait it out for a race not involving Trump.

One other person getting some attention is Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. He is a total asshole so he will fit right into this crowd. But he has some how been able to thread the needle between keeping the far right base happy while not completely selling his soul to Trump. I think he runs for Senate in 2026 but he is in kind of a unique position where he appeals to Republicans of all persuasions without being close to Trump.

Hogan is operating under the delusion that any Republicans give a shiat about Reagan anymore. Reaganism has been dead for a while, Larry, the Paul Ryan out front should have told you.  The only way to beat Trumpism among Republicans is to come up with something even dumber and more malicious, hence, the popularity of Ron DeSantis.

Reaganism is still alive.  The main pillar was emasculating the government and letting corporations take over.

Those are still alive and well in the GOP...
