Ban all books with excessive sex and violence, the best selling book of all time is one of these books. Get rid of it everywhere.

Reynolds accused "the radical left" of treating students like "their personal property,"
shortly after demanding that all schools in the state ban the same books.

Good.  We need an Iowa school to step up and ban The Bible.

The irony of being unable to read this article about students being unable to read certain books is...this is irony, right?

So if California bans a slew of his fave Jebus books, he'll be fine with all schools banning them.

Somehow I doubt this.

I love so much about this.  She wants the GOP nomination so bad. She might be the lady who polls OK and loses.  Republicans aren't nominating a broad.

The other part I enjoy is remembering 2020 when NYT was like "everyone is leaving New York forever and buying houses in the sticks."  This is why that never happened. Educated people aren't letting their kids go to hillbilly schools.

There are 1,310 public schools in Iowa. The average public school library holds between 10,000 and 15,000 books. If the schools coordinate, they each need only ban ten books and, voilla, no more libraries and the children are saved.  They could repurpose the libraries as chapels for even more savings.

That's how government, and by extension, society works. Unanimous consent. Nothing short of unanimous consent is required for every action we take. That's why my kids' teachers send out public twitter polls before they utter any sentence out loud.

Fair enough. Go down the entire required reading list for grades k-12 and object to everything on there. Keep doing this every time they change it.

It has.

Rich towns and cities can tell the governor to Fark off, since the schools are locally funded and controlled.  Thanks to the internet, banning books with mild language describing awkward teen romance does nothing.  Their precious snowflakes have already seen things their parents have done as teens.

Do kids actually check out books from the school library in this day and age? This feels like the biggest non-controversy yet.

If some book gets banished from the school library, my kids are probably going to read it as a matter of principle. It's not like the public library and the interwebz don't exist.

A friend's gay son went to the east coast for college and someone asked why he isn't coming back. I asked them why would a young gay male come back to Iowa when they are now considered the enemy by the Governor and veto proof state legislature. This state has gone to hell the last few years. I am sheltered by it because I am a straight white male but being a liberal atheist doesn't make me feel comfortable here. My daughter is 2 years from graduating of high school so I might get out then.

I know right? And whose idea was it to expose our precious children to the horrors of Roman numerals? Everyone knows what kind of immoral homoerotic shenanigans those crazy Romans would get up to. Why first we teach our children their numbers, next thing you know half the class will be practicing sodomy and asking for drag queens to show up for their next birthday parties. It's obscene!
