I'm not surprised at all, but it's definitely interesting to see the actual data on this

Weaponized MAGA is an asset to our adversaries and an active threat to national security, and even foreign policy for the United States at this point.

As a Brit I'd love to see someone look into the whole Boris Johnson "partygate" thing. He had a drink at work, in the office, with only people who would have been in the office anyway, no outside guests, no mixing, certainly nothing anyone would ever call "a party" yet that stayed in the media headlines for months here.

At a time when Boris Johnson was leading the way supporting Ukraine, putting pressure on other leaders to support Ukraine, apply sanctions etc. It was Boris leading the call to expel Russia from Swift. It was Boris who had warned Germany that becoming reliant on Russian oil would end in tears, it was Boris supplying weapons and training to Ukraine long before the actual invasion etc.

Putin certainly has a huge amount to gain if Boris was forced out. And a minor "scandal" was endlessly pushed online and in the media for months.

Coincidence?

"fracture western societies & promote civil unrest"?  Well forcing out a democratically elected leader who was leading the way supporting Ukraine certainly fits the bill.

/Of course many Farkers are going to dismiss this, because they wanted Boris gone and don't want to face the possibility that they were duped by Putin's propaganda. That they're just as gullible and easily manipulated as the people they mock.

Duh??

IT was funded and run by the alt right, its Russia all the way down to the bedrock of Nazi shiat.

2023-02-04 8:47:29 PM
Are we really still doing this shiat?

From TFA,

So what does this all mean? Well, for one thing, as I noted in the paper, it does NOT mean that Russia was behind the truck convoy. The convoy was a homegrown movement - an extension of anti-lockdown/anti-vaccine protests

"Russian psyop" now means that RT noticed something and covered it.  Virtually everything in this thread would only influence a person who was already watching RT.  Oh, but this:

Another notable trend: When RT's coverage drops off, Fox News' coverage starts to sharply increase, almost like the two outlets are in a symbiotic relationship.

See, if their timing doesn't align, that means there's a symbiotic relationship.  If their timing were to actually align, it's obvious what that would mean, right?

The only people being influenced are the people who are already watching them, because those people already belong to the audience that the outlet caters to.

This was fun:

Similarly, the keyword "nazi" only appeared when RT's coverage was included.

Really?  I seem to remember that word coming up a lot after the appearance of a certain flag drew some attention?  I guess it was just RT covering that.

Yah. The use of the Emergency Act to freeze the foreign money coming in to fund the protest was one of its most important uses. Anyone will protest if they are being payed bigly to do it.

Get a load a this guy.

Hey genius, Boris managed to throw gasoline on his own fire by repeatedly lying about what he did. If hr had come clean and taken his lumps from the outset the story would have disappeared.

He got roasted for being a brazen unrepentant liar.  Not even his own party could trust him any more.  He himself is to blame.  Any handwringing you want to air over this should be directed at Boris.

Except the drinky-poos party scandal was just the end of a very long line of scandals by Boris, or permitted by Boris when committed by his colleagues.

In fact you've tried to rewrite history, the final straw wasn't even the office drinks, it was his backing of Chris Pincher, a man who apparently really lived up to that name. But there were many before that, Matt Hancock was another example of a complete scumbag whom Boris tried to hang onto in the face of massive public anger.

You may have a point about Russian interference, I wouldn't rule it out, but you're ignoring a LOT of reasons for public anger at Boris Johnson so that's just propaganda too at this point.

Are you saying you don't think Putin would have wanted Boris gone?

Frankly, if I was Putin damn right I'd do everything I could to get rid of Boris. Are you seriously claiming that Russia spent all this time and effort to stir up trouble in Canada but didn't even think of doing anything in the UK to force Boris out?

He just also seems to think that Trudeau is a despot who's the next Pol Pot and he's discussing trying to refugee into America. I replied that I've considered trying to refugee into Canada because I'm afab and queer, and I completely broke his mind.

The thing is, I absolutely know that someone got to him and farked with him. This isn't HIM, you know? He's been fed garbage information.

So for my part, I refused to interact beyond letting him know I thought it was a psyop. Way I see it, it's days are numbered and nothing will come of it, and he'll have to reconcile that. TFA explicitly says this is Russia's MO. Russia didn't create the convoy. But they saw a minor local issue and magnified it and made it a huge deal, keeping it in the headlines for months.

That is exactly what Russia did in Canada!

Pick a hundred Brits on the street and I bet not one of them would even recognise Pincher's name let alone remember what he was accused of, barring maybe in his own constituency.

And you are essentially saying "Yeah there may have been Russian propaganda but I still stand by my position based on those months of media headlines!" which is no different to a Canadian saying "Yeah there may have been Russian propaganda but I still stand by my position based on those months of media headlines!" regarding the convoy.
