What I remember about St. Brigid's Day are the crosses we were asked to make in school out of rushes, resembling this one:

Oh, and the legend of St. Brigid's cloak.

Boxties are delicious, but they're easiest to find in Ulster. I grew up in Leinster, and never had a boxty until I ordered one in an Irish-owned pub in Canada.

I would have gotten in trouble for pretending I was a ninja and throwing them at my friends.

/sort of related csb: My brother and I were asked not to return to my uncle's church (we were staying with them while my parents took a vacation) because we got into a sword fight with small wooden crosses that the class was making during an arts and crafts portion of their Sunday school

I have never heard of these.
