I'm sure it's lovely, but this is not something I want in my breakfast:
{
Warm over a medium heat, stirring frequently for about 5 minutes, until the water is absorbed and the oats are thickened.
}
Time in the morning is precious on a weekday. But a hot egg, avocado, and hot oatmeal do sound like a great combo. Overnight oats cold are a sad beginning to the day.

2 cups pin head oats + 8 cups water + boil 25 minutes = a week's worth of oatmeal.

Mix in fruit and some cream or whatever, nuke 2 minutes, instant oatmeal.

Okay but instead of oats I'll use grits, and instead of parmesan I'll use cheddar, and and instead of avocado I'll use bacon.

Just make a week's worth of oatmeal at once and microwave a bowl each morning. No problem.

Ok, you give me your address.  I'll be there tomorrow for breakfast.

My wife makes overnight oats. In the morning I add some milk and cook it for 40 minutes. Tastes exactly like I put the groats in cold water and milk (3:1) and cooked it for 40 minutes.

A friend(?) Gave me a box of Coco Wheats. I never had coco wheats. Should I just donate it to the food pantry?

Eh, I just use a slow cooker for steel cut oats.  Load it up before bed, turn it on when I wake up, and by the time I've worked out and showered, it's ready to eat.

I skip step 1.

I take uncooked oats, cover with water in a cereal bowl, add a pinch of salt, and microwave for 1:45. Then I add in my fruit, peanut butter, cinnamon, etc. Done.

I don't understand "prepping" oatmeal. It's incredibly fast to make a serving on the spot from old fashioned oats. And no, I'm not a sicko who uses the microwave to cook eggs or bacon or veggies, but for oatmeal it's totally acceptable!

Chia seeds: if you want the texture of frog eggs with the taste of mildew.

I'll happily take stone milled grits, juk or sticky rice, any day of the week over oats. Sticky rice, with fresh & pickled veggies, a poached egg and Nori Furikake, is a staple that can be reimagined in so many different ways, that it never gets old to me
