We need to get tic toc to make suicide culturally acceptable and honorable.  If a person wants to die, they shouldn't have to get someone else to kill them.  They should be honored and be allowed to take some good drugs and watch a personalized Imax move.

People expect church-goers to worship while carrying weapons?

Seriously, if your first thought was that people who are in a place of worship would be carrying lethal weapons in case they are attacked, then you really need to look at just how unsafe your society is, how little people in your society trust each other, consider how you got into this position, and how you can get your society out of it.

This is not good.

Appealing to 'trust' feels like a ridiculous emotional position. A progun advocate would say how people against carrying guns don't trust themselves or others.

Where is your trust?!? What kind of society do you live in that you believe people are incapable of controlling themselves!

I leaned in another thread that Canadia doesn't allow suicide tourism.

And ideally suicide should be on demand and free.  Not go through panels of experts to "Allow" a persxn to die.  People shouldn't have to get permission.  A persxn should be allowed to die.  Any time they want.  For whatever reason.  Comfortably.  And without terrorizing others.

If the humxn population becomes endangered, maybe a few restrictions can be allowed.  But humxns seem good at reproduction.  So it isn't likely that we go endangered or even threatened.  And soon we can just genoprint a designer fetus and have it gestated in a pod or pig. Problem solved.

Yeah. My mom is in her mid-70s and obese, but still in a folk band that performs weekly and loves to party and loves life. She's also made it explicitly clear to the family that she doesn't want hospice if that happens one day. She'd like to go out peacefully with family and help. It's a warning too, because it's illegal, so if we're there or assisted, we need to be smart.

It's stupid. But only because it's illegal.

I don't know if it's the exception, but my usual parking spot near work used to be across the street from a synagogue, and they had a police-looking car perpetually parked in front, security guards any time an event was in progress, and off-duty officers (or at least people whose bright vests said that) for the more significant holy days. I figure for any congregation with the means, it would make sense to hire armed security precisely because there are so many murderous anti-Semites out there.

He wasn't saying it needs to happen, but rather, it is what happens. And that would be completely true in a Baptist church. There have been multiple cases where someone starts shooting and gets shot by multiple parishioners.

Meg my former boss for beers here in NorCal. It's legal now to off yourself if you are terminally ill. His mom has been a member of the hemlock society forever and told the family to not be surprised if she was discovered with a plastic bag on her head.

Skip to last year: she is terminally ill and my former boss(and friend) is the only one in the family to step up and help. They get the drugs and his mom says,"So, you finally get to kill your mother". [Pause for dramatic and farked up effect].
He continues despite this and her suffering ends.

Meg my former boss for beers here in NorCal. It's legal now to off yourself if you are terminally ill. His mom has been a member of the hemlock society forever and told the family to not be surprised if she was discovered with a plastic bag on her head.

Skip to last year: she is terminally ill and my former boss(and friend) is the only one in the family to step up and help. They get the drugs and his mom says,"So, you finally get to kill your mother". [Pause for dramatic and farked up effect].
He continues despite this and her suffering ends.

What kind of farked up shiat is THAT??


Maybe his family jokes about shait like that. I used to joke with my mom that when she got old I was going to put her in The Home, a place that smelled like pee and every puzzle was missing a piece. Every time I'd make up some new detail about it, like how long they'd boil the cabbage. It was a running joke with us for years. In fact, the very last communication I had with her was after she'd had a heart attack. She emailed that my brother was taking care of her and doing things like emptying the cat pan, and would she be getting that in The Home? She would have absolutely made a crack like "I know most children want to kill their mothers sometimes, but you get to actually do it!"

Leftover Cocaine: This is so weird. The people in the chairs are basically not caring about the guy. He looks like he's talking and smiling. No one ducks. There's something ... going on with this story.


Be careful, you wouldn't be to be labeled an anti-Semite for being reasonably inquisitive.
