Lived in Lafayette, LA for a few years... something about swampy areas... Some of those storms was like being in an artillery barrage.

Ya, the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team Is located right in the middle of that. They just pulled that name out of their ass, Subby.

Also, you may be surprised to learn that it's very hot in the location where the Miami Heat are based out of.

And happens every year. Fl is like the lighting capital of the eastern hemeisphere.  There is a reason they shut down pools during a storm. Every 8 year old kid and above in fl knows this.

Old

Sigh

Old news is old. Happens every year.

Swamps, I'm not sure of, but it seems that lightning occurs more often in tropical biomes.

You'd think there'd be more strikes near Tallahassee.

You know, where the governor is.

That's one of the things I miss about Florida.

Why would you miss a bunch of potential power outages?

Only progressives hate Florida.

But boy, do they hate Florida.  In a weirdly obsessive way too.  They come across like Incels obsessing over the girls that rejected them, or "straight" Republicans obsessing over gays.

Maybe they should seek professional help.

Do you go to Utah for great Jazz?
Do you dodge trolleys in LA?

We love Florida! Why do you think it has it's own fark tag? Are we not entertained by the antics of Florida Man?

You're no Mike Lowell, but you are at least trying to troll, and all we can ask for is your best try.

That's right, Manwë.

Technically not God, but the next closest thing.

I don't recall the power going out a lot as a kid. Seems like the local power companies have a handle on it. More so than say, Texass, for example.

I go to New Orleans for great Jazz and when in Brooklyn I dodge batteries that are thrown at me.

We know God only picks on Florida because other states tolerate teh gays.
This is something people actually believe.

Psychohazard: It's just a population map.

Quite seriously I was wondering if the intensities shown on the map correlate to the distribution of weather stations equipped to monitor lightning.

To confuse any answers, lightning is detected basically by monitoring relatively low frequency radio signals and can be detected from very far away.  But still, the more sensors there are in a given area, the more likely a lightning occurrence will be both detected and located.
