I think the key is, positive action begets further positive action... If you set something in motion, and keep doing it, eventually your world becomes a reflection of what you are dreaming in your head.  It has no choice.

More like confirmation bias. If you train yourself to focus on the positive and ignore the negative, the whole world will continue to seem positive.

It's a form of delusion, but probably isn't a particularly harmful one until you move into the entitled realm.

How is that a delusion?  One's perception defines the reality they live out.
People live and die believing in Jesus... Other people live and die believing in Muhammed.   In my view... they aren't both wrong... .they are actually both right.   Their perception defines what truth is.

You seem to be saying... I can't say its sunny out, because on the other side of the globe, its raining somewhere.

I don't have an opinion on the article.

But I am saving that headline.

More like you could be dancing in the street in the rain, and thinking the weather is wonderful and sunny out.

You can believe whatever you want, that doesn't make you right. Not everything is subjective, some things are true in spite of your perception and the rest of the world is under no obligation to join in with your perception.

The fun part is people believing contradictory things, like Buddha and Jesus and Mohammed are real... Is that they can't all be correct, but they can all be wrong.

Tell that to the Manichaeists, who believed the four major prophets were Jesus, Buddha, Zoroaster and Mani himself

Those aren't contradictory though.

Like, you do know that Jesus is an extremely important figure in Islam, right?

Is there any contradiction between the teachings of these three individuals?

It's not necessarily their teachings that are contradictory, but overarching conflicts with the afterlife beliefs, what they believe the figure to be, and things in their books. You can't really be both Muslim and Christian. Done if the fundamental underpinnings don't work together.

The same is true with Buddhism. The only people who could do enough mental gymnastics to make them not fundamentally incompatible are the religious people who are so well practiced at mental gymnastics they don't see the contradictions within their own books and beliefs.

The contradictions are, for the most part, in the ideas put forth by their supporters, and those who came after them.

Jesus' teachings are remarkably similar to those of Buddha...so much so that many Buddhists regard Jesus as being a bodhisattva upon birth and a Buddha later.  I don't know that much about Islam, but I do know that Muhammed's teachings were similar in many ways.  Baha'i believe that all three people, as well as the founders of other religions, are probably all incarnations of one another. Same person, different lifetimes.

I would say it's best to just focus on what they themselves said, taught and did.  What other people calling themselves followers have said, taught or done is generally beside the point and often irrelevant.

Yes - back to the point of the article, these people are full of horseshiat. They're highlighting the positive things that happen and ignoring the negative ones - which can inspire confidence and be a good thing, as long as one keeps working and doesn't say "Welp, I'm just gonna let Jesus take the wheel" because that's not how reality works. You don't just sit on your ass and let good stuff fall out of the sky, but it's surprising how many people actually do think that.
