The debt ceiling has been raised by GOP controlled terms far mor than liberals. You can look it up.

Hey, she writes what they tell her to write. Ingrid Jaques is just pawn in game of life.

She's got some anti-talent, I'll admit, but it's a mighty crowded field full of stupendously idiotic individuals.  I think you're giving whoever this is way too much credit.

Seems that Ingrid Jaques is strapped for things to write about.

She should report how the day after Biden took over all those people died from covid

He's not saying its ALL of the debt subby... just 1/6 of it.

It's always after a Republican is in the White House that we hear that word....deficit....like it's brand new all over again.

Their concern is always so genuine too, isn't it?  As soon as a Democrat is in the WH it's like it just snuck up on them and screamed "Boo!" in their ears.

Want to do something about the deficit?  Get your people elected and actually do something about it.

America's stupidest columnist

Subby, Marc Thiessen is, quite inexplicably, employed by the Washington Post, not USA Today. I suspect it's a little Republican affirmative action. It's hard to find a writer who's not a moron to vomit up right wing talking points.

2023-02-03 3:57:50 PM
What else are House Republicans supposed to do, however, with Democrats still holding control of the Senate and the White House?

Well, ya dingbat, they're supposed to do their jobs.  First, they pay the bills because that's immediate.  Second, they debate the budget.  This bullshiat drive-by budget debate while we should be writing checks is not the way it works.  The Payment Ceiling isn't about spending - that's what budget talks are for, and the GOP hates budget talks.

Start with the military budget

2023-02-03 3:58:21 PM
Between the Trump and Biden administrations, the country has spent about $6 trillion in fighting COVID-19 alone, now money under the bridge. Just as a family needs to budget carefully after an unexpected expense, the federal government also needs to rein in its spending.

There it is.

Go back to France, Jacques

Oh, boy!

Did you know that every single Republican since the Great Depression has left the country with either a larger deficit than that started with or a smaller surplus than they started with? (Measured as a percentage of GDP.) Did you know that, during the same timeframe, every single Democrat has left us with either a smaller deficit or larger surplus? Anyone who thinks the Republicans are the 'spendthrifts' are simply wrong.

She's what Donruss would have called a "rated rookie" - she'll probably have a long career as a Professional Idiot (it'll probably help to imagine her constantly wearing Tucker's "why shouldn't I put my dick in the toaster?" quizzicalface), but for now she's just a top prospect.

// stopped at the headline's unspoken premise that Democrats should negotiate with Republicans over debt we've already passed into law (over the last 70 farking years), rather than an assumption that Congress can work to lower the total debt moving forward without brinksmanship over the artificial debt ceiling

Biden has approved nearly $5 trillion in deficit spending

Good thing we didn't have a massive tax cut in 2017, or anything.

I don't think he has a column anymore. Fox News fired him for being too much of a racist dumb shiat for even them. So now he has his Twitter feed, where he occasionally embarrasses himself on a national level, as well as a program on an AM Memphis radio station.

Ingrid is a columnist for the Detroit News which is the right wing newspaper of the city. Most of the time she's behind a paywall so they can fleece the stupids who would agree with whatever she writes.

She's a Hillsdale College grad, which means she's a blue blood, rich family, legacy Conservative.

Her viewpoints are meaningless outside the bubble she caters to with her columns.

THIS is what passes for intellectualism on the right.

Ingrid Jacques has worked in journalism for nearly two decades. Prior to starting at USA TODAY in May 2022, she served as a columnist and deputy editorial page editor at The Detroit News,
